PSG Group is a well-known organization for education and research since 1926 in Coimbatore and operating institutions of various disciplines over the past nine decades. PSG College of Arts & Science (PSGCAS) is one of the prominent institutes established by this group in the year 1947 and became autonomous college in 1978. It is an ISO 9001:2008 certified institute and re-accredited at ‘A’ grade by NAAC. The college offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, M.Phil., and Ph.D. programs in Arts, Science, Humanities, and Commerce.

Notable Academician, Researcher and Leader

Dr. D Brindha, Ph.D., has been appointed as the Principal of PSG College of Arts & Science in 2018. She has more than 30 years of teaching experience and has exemplary expertise in handling various courses in biochemistry. As a leader, she played a dynamic role in bringing out multifaceted development in all academic as well as research activities of the department. She is a proud alumnus of PSGCAS and started her journey as Lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry at PSGCAS and became Head of the Department in 2013. She studied B.Sc. and M.Sc and M.Phil in Biochemistry and did her doctoral research from Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women.

Dr. D Brindha has published around 56 research papers in reputed journals and her core area of research is Cancer Biology and Nanotechnology. She has been awarded with Academic Excellence Award by PSG Institutions in 2014, 2015 and 2016. She has been honored Best Citizen of India award in 2014. Dr. D Brindha is a pioneer at PSGCAS for successfully organizing several capacity building programs for school children and College Students. She was the Coordinator for Young Students Scientist program (YSSP) sponsored by Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST), Science Academies Lecture Workshop series sponsored by the Indian Academy of Sciences and DST INSPIRE Internship Science Camp.

About Department of Commerce

The Department of Commerce was incepted in the year 1969 and has more than hundred multifaceted and talented faculties who contribute significantly in the respective fields. The department aims to provide value based education and inculcate cognitive, technical, interpersonal skills in students to outperform in the competitive corporate world. The department has signed MoUs with professional bodies like ICAI, ICWAI, and ICSI as well as with multiple corporates that provide vital exposures to students.

Wide Range of Courses in Arts and Commerce

PSGCAS offers several courses in commerce such as Bachelor of Commerce in Cost and Management Accounting, Banking and Insurance, e-Commerce, Accounting and Finance, Retail Marketing, Foreign Trade, Business Analytics, and more professional courses. This college also offers Masters of Commerce in Computer Applications, Corporate Secretaryship, International Business, and more career-focused programs which help students to pursue the desired career. Commerce department provides coaching classes for CA, CMA, ACS, and Placement training, preparation for competitive examinations, alumni-student interface and more activities aimed for better career opportunities. Every year, around 50 students clear CA examinations and several students get placed in reputed companies like L&T, Goldman Sachs, E&Y, TCS, TVS, and other reputed Banking Companies.

To promote entrepreneurship, PSGCAS has partnered with (NEN) National Entrepreneurship Network – Wadhwani Foundation. The Entrepreneurship Development Cell of the college train the students who aspire to become entrepreneurs. The college organizes various training programs like Technology-based Entrepreneurship Development Program (TEDP), Entrepreneurship Development Programs (EDP), and Women Entrepreneurship Development Program (WEDP) with support of EDII-Ahmedabad, National Science & Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (NSTEDB), and The Department of Science & Technology (DST) Govt. of India.
