IIT-Guwahati at its nanotechnology centre has established advanced microelectronics and nano energy facilities. The institute aims to prepare for the challenges that are likely to arrive in the future. Academically partnering with the nanotechnology industry will help them carry transactional research in different sectors of the fields like health care, nano-energy devices, sensors, etc.

The nano energy and microelectronics facility are the first of their kind in Northeast India. According to the officials, the institute has been working on nanotechnology for more than two decades and has a good record in the industry in areas like nanoscience and nanotechnology.

The facility was funded by the revenue generated by the work on nanotechnology at the institute and was inaugurated last month by the Education Minister of India, Dharmendra Pradhan.
