Freeport High School Allows Kids to Practise Firefighting Techniques
Freeport High School

The Allegheny County Fire Academy has joined with the Freeport Area School District to create a new programme for kids. On Thursday night, the school board decided overwhelmingly to offer a dual enrolment option for entry-level fire training. The fire academy would provide students with training certifications as well as credit for a district elective.

Superintendent Ian Magness views the possibility as a win-win situation for both kids and volunteer fire units. Every month, there are one or two class days. Students will travel by bus to the academy and will be there from 8:30 am to 1:15 pm.
