Successful Placements of students in the industry has been the USP of Indian Institute of Hotel Management and Culinary Arts , Hyderabad The placement percentage over the last 20 years has been on a growth trajectory.

Right from the year of the first batch passing out of our institute, our students have been preferred due to their employability. The right approach in connecting with the hoteliers and showcasing the talents of our students and their ability to be industry-ready has been the key to our Success in giving the placement over the years.

Our Placement Record During last Five Years:

In the year 2015, we have provided 48 International Placements and 32 placements in Indian Hotels. This achievement was followed up with successive years, viz in the year 2016 our international placements were 55 in number vis a vis compared to 28 in Indian Hotels.

Few of the International brands who have visited our institute for Conducting Campus Interviews and recruited our students are Costa Cruises-Italy, Carnival cruises-UK, Princes Cruises-UK & P&O Cruises-Australia, the Atlantis The Palm Dubai, Movenpick, Jumeirah Beach Hotel-Dubai, Sheraton Dubai, Fairmont the Palm-Dubai, Happy Cruises Spain. Some of the Indian Hotels who have recruited our students are The Taj Group of Hotels (IHCL), The Oberoi (OCLD), ITC Hotels Ltd, Trident Hotels, Radisson Hotel Group, JW Marriott, Westin, Novotel, Conrad Hilton, Double Tree by Hilton & Hyatt Hotels.

For the international and National placements, we do not charge any money from the students. The placements are done purely on merit basis and the interviews are conducted by the concerned hoteliers.

History

The Indian Institute of Hotel Management and Culinary Arts (IIHMCA) Hyderabad is established in 2001 by well known Hospitality Professionals from India and abroad. The Institute is Affiliated to Osmania University and approved by Telangana State Council of Higher Education, Hyderabad.

Our Mission is to provide future hospitality industry leaders with the practical training, educational and cultural awareness, skills necessary to succeed in today’s Global economy while fostering International goodwill.

Vision

The IIHMCA is committed to providing its students with theoretical information and practical experience that will give them strong foundation in Hospitality fundamentals and hands-on skills which ensures them in developing a successful career in the Hospitality Industry.

Courses and Campus

The Institute offers two academic programs –

  1. BCT&CA (Bachelor Degree in Catering Technology & Culinary Arts)
  2. BHM&CT (Bachelor Degree in Hotel Management & Catering Technology)

The nearly 40,000 sq.ft. area of IIHMCA campus houses well-equipped culinary labs (kitchens), training restaurants, front office, housekeeping and computer laboratories and classrooms.

In order to train students in culinary skills right from the basics to the advanced and baking, confectionery, housekeeping and hands-on restaurant training there is a Basic Training Kitchen, Quantity Training Kitchen, Advanced Training Kitchen, Cruise Galley Kitchen, Bakery & Confectionery, Advanced Bakery & Pastry and Training Restaurants.

The front office laboratory helps to understand the role of a front office department. Students are taught basic telephone etiquette.

The house keeping lab is where the students are imparted with practical training in the Model Guest Room.

The institute also has an audio-visual hall for demonstrations, guest lectures, seminars and workshops.

The library facility has valuable books, recommended by the experts in their relevant fields. The college procures National and International Journals for the student’s reference.

A modern cafeteria in the campus provides nutritious food to the students at no extra cost. Special dishes are served to students on special occasions. The cafeteria is also used as the place where student food festivals are conducted

Wholesome Training by IIHMCA

IIHMCA has always been a front runner in maintaining a healthy professional relationship with the industry for the benefit of its students thereby making students ‘industryready’ by the time of their course completion by conducting lecturers in coordination with designated hotel to update the latest technological developments in the real-time hotel operations.

The campus recruitment drive commences during the fifth semester in the month August/September every year and continues till March in the succeeding year. The recruiting happens for the below-mentioned categories:

  • Management Trainee Program
  • Kitchen Management Trainee
  • HOMT (Department Specific)
  • GOET (Graduate Operations Executive Trainee)
  • Hotel Operations Trainee GSA – (Guest Service Agent or Associate)

Special training sessions commence from the beginning of the fifth semester to enable students to orient themselves towards career achievements.

In addition to hotel companies in India, IIHMCA provides International placements in Cruise Lines and other large hotels.

Preparing Students During COVID-19

As responsible citizens, IIHMCA since its inception has had its internal hygiene and sanitation processes. Being a core culinary institute, both the factors form an integral part of its operations. The curriculum itself supports it by having a separate subject related to hygiene sanitation based on Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP).

Special online classes are being conducted soon after the guidelines were laid down by Osmania University. Students coming to the campus are encouraged to put on the masks/hand gloves and use the hand sanitizer provided at vantage points in the college. Social distancing is enforced and constantly monitored.

The yearly co-curricular activities give students of IIHMCA the advantage of fine tuning their skills which are nurtured by experienced faculties. The students have won various National level competitions over the years which are held annually in different parts of the country like Bengaluru, New Delhi, Mumbai, Surat, Aurangabad and other cities.

The participation of students in national level competitions has also exposed the brand value of the college to prospective hoteliers, thereby making it a viable source for recruitments.
