Technology was always a debatable topic. There are number of positives and negatives about technology influence on education system. But, gradually as technology was embraced by the educational institutes, they realized the importance of technology in education. Technology and education are a great combination if used together with a right reason and vision.
To elucidate on the topic of this article, I am more than definite that technology improves education to a great extent and it has now become a need for revolutionizing education for the better, but at the same time it should be used with certain responsibility.
With technology, educators, students and parents have a variety of learning tools at their fingertips. Here are some of the ways in which technology improves education over time:
Hesitation of asking questions: Technology gives leverage to the students to ask the questions, where they generally hesitate. They can get the various view points of the experts online & understand the topic with perfection.
Additional Source of Information: Students and Teachers can access this new platform for additional information. Online Information helps the students to improve the depth of knowledge. Students can approach various experts in order to take their views and understand the topics better with this additional source of information.
Use of App for the Preparation of Competitive exams: There are plenty of resourceful, credible apps and websites available on the Internet that both teachers and students can utilize. Recently government has also taken an initiative for the students by providing them online free knowledge.
Online learning is now an equally credible option: There are number of students who are unable to attend the class or lectures due to time or money constraint. These students now have an access of the knowledge with the help of the technology. There are multiple online certifications for those who can’t go to the college for higher studies.
It is advisable to use the technology with responsibility because it may result with adverse also.
Reduced Interaction between teachers and Students: Technology is also resulting in less interaction between teachers and students. In this scenario the students believes in Posting Pictures of the food instead of sharing it with the peers. The students are becoming less social. Technology should be used for improving the quality of education but there should be certain restrictions in order to prevent such adverse effect.
Increased use of Technology: In a study it is been observed that the multitasking or listening to music when studying can reduce the productivity by 40%. In order to make the technology fruitful It is requested to make sure that the discipline is not compromised while focusing on imparting quality education.
Social Status: Sometimes it is been observed that, gadgets are becoming the social status. When we talk about schools and colleges, it is must to provide a platform where all students are equal and given equal opportunity to explore the education.
Increase in stress and reduce IQ: Students are using technology where they are doing multitasking or listening music while studying and using gadgets. The excess multitasking is reducing the productivity of the students and it is reducing the IQ & Increasing the stress level of the students.
Over the past years of studies, I come to a conclusion that technology is a valuable and versatile tool for teaching and learning. It has shown benefits in our developing education system. As parents want their children to graduate with skills that prepare them to either get a job in today’s marketplace or advance to higher levels of education and training. It is very useful in providing more knowledge to our students and also on making them competitive in the job market, but it’s very important to make sure that the technology is used with responsibility.
