The year was 1945 when the former Prime Minister of India Jawaharlal Nehru inaugurated the Seth Anandram Jaipuria College in Kolkata. From then on, the Jaipuria family’s association in education began and till date, the historical legacy continues. The legacy of the Jaipuria Group of Institutions has always been enshrined in three words – “Empower, Enthuse, and Excel”.

With such wisdom, Seth Anandram Jaipuria Education Society established many exceptional institutions including Jaipuria Institute of Management and its premier institution Jaipuria School of Business (JSB).

JSB was set up to serve the industry by training students in PGDM courses. Nestled in the NCR within a verdant campus, the school offers a two-year full-time Postgraduate Diploma in Management. Student-Oriented Infrastructure

The academic architecture at JSB is approved by the Academic Advisory Council. For twenty-four-hour reference, students can come to the B-school’s library – The “Centre for Lifelong learning” (CFLL) – the nerve center for learning. It is equipped with tablets, 7000 texts and books and over 100 magazines/journals, including biographies, fiction, novels, and much more.

The air-conditioned classrooms, along with spacious seminar rooms and auditoriums, provide abundant space to students to unleash their creativity. Debates and group seminars are taken on most relevant and contemporary topics to unleash the thoughts and ideas concealed within the young minds. Such exercises also expose students to the world of public speaking. Thus, the campus in the NCR is an ideal location for students, academia, and industry to connect and collaborate.

Thoroughly Standardized Curriculum

Approved by AICTE, the institute offers a two-year full-time Post-Graduate Diploma in Management with opportunities for specialization in different functional streams. It divides the programme into six trimesters; each academic year comprising three terms of 32-34 weeks’ duration each. Students receive a quality education with each course being assigned weightage in terms of specific credits.

For Dual Specialization, the syllabi cater to each student where they undertake specialization out of the five streams, Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Marketing Management, Operations Management and Information Sciences.

To obtain dual specialization, students must take six papers in each area and bouquet of electives, which builds up their business acumen. The school also has a course on ‘Book Review’ and ‘Personal Growth Lab’ presented as a compulsory course in the first year to strengthen socio-emotional intelligence.

Going further, to keep students and teachers updated with the latest technological learning, the school has registered as a local chapter for NPTEL (National Programme for Technology Enhanced Learning). Consequently, it provides an environment for online learning under the SWAYAM platform of AICTE. Herein, students and teachers register every year for different programmes to gain industry-relevant competencies.

One such example is of MOOCs (Massive Open Online Course Software) and how the school has incorporated technology into its robust teaching-learning system. Additionally, the faculty has also completed certification courses under MOOCs to upskill and upgrade as per the contemporary practice that advocates ‘learning by doing’.

The institute also offers an opportunity for a study trip abroad to selected meritorious students, giving them global exposure and enhancing their knowledge perspective. It is also in talks with several organizations for internship opportunities for its students abroad.

Curriculum Extensions

At JSB, a lot of emphasis is given on holistic and gainful learning experience. Hence in order to take the learning experience beyond the four walls of the campus, industrial visits are held for the students at least once in every trimester.

The facilities for indoor as well as outdoor sports help the student stay fit. Sports events are regularly held to enhance the physical fitness of students, thus helping them become mentally more alert.

Moreover, there is a cultural committee of students with faculty members acting as Mentors to tap the softer aspects of the students and help them grow as wholesome individuals. Theatres scripted on the basis of Management practices, nukkad natak, debating sessions on contemporary national as well as global issues, poetry sessions, ad-mad campaigns, and other cultural activities are duly encouraged in the institute.

Placements Done Right

At JSB, the Placement Cell engages with the industry and strives to expand the industry-academia interface. It regulates the careers of students right from their induction and orientation, summer internships, mid-term projects, till their final placements, and even beyond.

The school gives every student multiple opportunities to collaborate with corporates to attain first-hand knowledge and insights. JSB’s tie-ups with industry bodies such as FICCI, DMA, AIMA, UN Global Compact Network India and others provide a forum for student participation in the conferences, annual meets, and other events.
