Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation (Deemed to be University, Estd u/s.3 of the UGC Act,1956) is located in the Vaddeswaram Guntur District of Andhra Pradesh, India. It consists of 11 academic departments and six schools with 447 doctoral faculty out of 1091, and heavily emphasizes on scientific and technological research.
Established in 1980, KLEF has a campus spread over 43 acres with a total built up area of about 1.71 lakh sq.mts. The institution is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi; and it is ISO 9001 – 2015 certified institution. It has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with ‘A’ grade. According to ‘India rankings 2016’ released by NIRF-MHRD, KLEF got 1st rank in The Top Best Engineering Institutions in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and 59th rank in the Best Engineering Institutions in India (including IITs and NITs). All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) recognized KLEF as the “Most Clean Campus in South Central Region“. It achieved All India Rank 2 under Swacchta Institute Rankings -2017 under Technical Institutions/Universities. The institute is recognized as a Public Funded Research Institute by DSIR of Government of India, a recognition for the excellent research environment in the institute.
Constant Quality Enhancement
Discipline is the hallmark of KLEF with 100% ragging free environment. It also encourages and appreciates all faculty and staff for their efforts towards quality sustenance and improvement in teaching-learning research and administration. Other initiative promoted is formation of research groups by all departments to encourage focused and specialized research in thrust/emerging areas. Further, KLEF introduced incentives to articles published in journals benchmarked by SCI, Scopus & Web of sciences, IEEE, ASME-Elsevier, Springer etc. The university has set up teams to help faculty and students to apply and acquire for product and technical patents. Faculty of KLEF are actively involved in research and published 4414 papers in reputed journals out of which 3219 are SCOPUS indexed, 4600 papers in conferences, 105 sponsored research projects worth of 31.04 cr and published 41 patents.
KLEF is the first academic institution in India to have Wi-Fi ‘n’ enabled campus. The University consists of 157 academic laboratories, 25 research laboratories, 6 industry collaboration labs and 6 centers of excellence. It provides 2.6 gbps ILL + 1 gbps NKN hi-speed internet connectivity round the clock on the campus and in the hostels.

E-learning enabled mode of teaching is practiced in the campus. KLEF is a member in the prestigious “All India Virtual Class Room” initiated by MHRD. It also runs an Entrepreneurship Cell in association with IIT Madras and IIM Ahmedabad. Digital LEARNING declared KLEF as The 4th Most trusted University Brand in 2016.
KLEF aims at developing a standardized system with 36 Associate Deans & 25-professor in-charges to monitor all academic and administrative activities of all the departments. Moreover, KLEF IQAC conducts internal academic, administrative audit of all documents once a month throughout the semester and external audit at the end of the academic year. The cell prepares necessary guidelines (as per the NAAC/UGC norms) to ensure and enhance quality sustenance and improvement.
KLEF organizes faculty orientation and faculty development programs in coordination with KLEF Academic Staff College (ASC).
Sri Koneru Satyanarayana, BE, FIE, FIETE, MIEEE graduated in Electronics and communication Engineering in the year 1977. He is the co-founder of the Institute, along with Sri Koneru Lakshmaiah, which was established in the year 1980. He is an educationist of eminence and also an industrialist of great repute. Under his stewardship, the Institute grew by leaps and bounds and today it is in the forefront of technical education in the country and is a force to reckon with. An energetic and enthusiastic person, he infuses qualities of leadership, sincerity in his commitments and continues to be a guiding factor in the growth of KL University.
In grateful recognition for outstanding services of KLEF President Er. Koneru Satyanarayana to engineering education, IT Industry and society at large CSI had conferred him the HONORARY FELLOW of the society at the 51st Annual Convention of CSI hosted by Coimbatore Chapter on 23 rd – 25th January 2017. Sri.Koneru Satyanarayana was conferred “Enabling Eduprenuership Award” in acknowledgement of his peerless contributions to the higher education sector, particularly his commitment for career centric higher education programs at the sixth edition of the World Education Summit 2016 held at Dubai. Sri Koneru Satyanarayana, received “Eminent Educationist Award” at Indo-Global Education Summit 2015.Under his inspiring leadership KL University will, no doubt, grow and prosper to be one of the Premier Universities of the country.

Dr. L.S.S. Reddy, Vice Chancellor, KLEF, is an eminent Professor in Computer Science and Engineering Department, holding Ph.D. in Computer Science Engineering from BITS Pilani. He had joined Koneru Lakshmaiah College of Engineering in December 1995 and proved his administrative excellence as the Head of Department of Computer Science and Engineering. He is an outstanding administrator and a prolific researcher, having over 30 years of experience in Teaching, Research and Administration at prestigious institutes like BITS Pilani, CBIT etc.
As Principal, Dr. Reddy was instrumental in promoting KLCE as one of the leading Institutions in India. KLCE has achieved remarkable growth in all the fronts of higher education under the leadership of Dr. L.S.S. Reddy, including accreditation of all its six eligible UG programs by NBA of AICTE in 2004. His contribution as a Principal of KLCE was very widely recognized and appreciated in converting an Autonomous college into a Deemed to be University u/s 3 of UGC Act 1956 in 2009 and thus KL University (Koneru Lakshmaiah Education Foundation University) came into existence.
He had more than 110 Publications in reputed International Journals and several paper presentations in International Conferences. 19 of his Research Scholars were awarded Ph.D. under his guidance from various Universities. He is Fellow-IE, Fellow-IETE, Senior Member- IEEE (Computer Society, USA), Senior Life Member- Computer Society of India (CSI), Life Member- ISTE, Member-ACM, and Member-ASEE (American Society for Engineering Education).

KLEF supports its students financially by providing up to 100% Fee Waiver for Sports/NCC/Cultural participants Fee waiver/concession is also applicable for the meritorious Rankers of EAMCET, IIT–JEE, KLUEEE, and Intermediate (10+2) Exams. Merit rank holding wards of faculty and staff members can avail up to 100% fee waiver. KLEF provides free transport to Physically Challenged students and faculty members.
