Delivering Ethos in Education

MET Institute of Management (MET IOM) established in 1994 at Bandra Reclamation by the Mumbai Educational Trust (MET). MET is a conglomerate of premiere educational institutions, located in Mumbai and Nashik , Maharashtra. The MET Institute of Management (MET IOM) is focused on imparting quality education, to make students sharp.  MET IOM was incorporated with the vision of shaping professionals, so that they can conquer the challenges of the socio-economic fabric in the society by institutionalising dissemination of relevant knowledge through structured learning systems. The institute is affiliated to the University of Mumbai and accredited by AICTE and recognized by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) and ISO 9001:2008 certified.

At MET IOM, students are already treated as managers under training. They impart ceaseless training, seven days a week. Moreover, application oriented knowledge, garnered in the lecture halls, are also applied to industrial assignments.

MET IOM offers best in its class infrastructure facilities which includes hi-tech learning environment, air-conditioned classrooms, Wi-Fi campus, computer labs, conference rooms, convention centre, recreation centre, indoor and outdoor sports facility, etc.

An Enlightened Educator

Dr (Professor) Vijay Page, Director General of the MET IOM, is an alumnus of Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai and has a doctorate in “Special Economic Zones in India”. For over three decades he has worked with the private sector corporate houses in the fields of textile, synthetic fibres, FMCG, etc. as well as at NGOs in the rural sector.

Besides being the CEO of Konkan Development Corporation for over a decade, where he worked in several areas, including dairy development, prawn culture, palm oil & rubber plantation, along with entrepreneurship development, Dr Vijay had also worked as a consultant to leading MNCs including Forbes, Kalyani Steel, etc.

Dr Vijay has been associated with the MET IOM and its various initiatives in management education for two decades. He has consistently sought for UNECOSOC (New York) consultative status for the institute since 2003 and has contributed in their New York and Geneva Dialogue.

During the sesquicentennial celebration of the Mumbai University in 2006, Dr. Vijay launched Vidya Setu. It is a plan devised for building a knowledge bridge that enables societal bonding and encourages social responsiveness towards the inferior class in the society. It was later renamed as Dr Abdul Kalam Vidya-Dharit Kaushalya Vikasan Setu. His main focus is development of Controlled Environment Agriculture and Perpetual Green Farming Hydroponic Systems, Ground Water Recharge and Harvesting for combating climate change in the Deccan trap, Dynamic Positioning for VUCA world through competency building in youth for driving mass poverty alleviation of the RUrban societies using state of the art technology.

Financial Aid Granted by Institute

MET IOM, being a private unaided non-minority institution, follows the “Economic Backward Class” (EBC) as regulated by Director of Technical Education, Government of Maharashtra (DTE) and supervised by “Fee Regulating Authority” an Admission Regulating Authority of the State Government. They reserve some seats for the minority class of the society such as scheduled classes, scheduled tribes, OBC, physically handicapped, etc. as per the norms of “Social District Social Welfare Office” and Integrated Tribal Development Office” of Government of Maharashtra, whereby, 50% of the seats are allotted and filled in by DTE. Furthermore, almost every year MET IOM offers scholarship through, “MET Freeship Scheme” and bank loan support to needy students.

Educating for Multi-Dimensional Development of the Students

MET IOM delivers Masters of Management Studies (MMS) and Part Time Master’s Degree programme in Management. With a view to balance the cognitive, emotive and action domains, MET IOM is shaping professionals by integrating ethics and corporate governance with social responsibility, inspiring fundamental management verticals with team building, experiential learning, case studies, scenario building, role plays, problem solving sessions, soft skills development, competency mapping, business simulation games etc.  The institute has developed, fine-tuned and delivered number of additional academic and co-curricular interventions and programmes to ensure multi-dimensional development of the students, such as MET IOM / AIMA Young Entrepreneur Workshops; MET Combat debating contest; Industrial and Rural visits; Workshops by In-house Centre of Excellence in Marketing/Finance/HR for corporates/student interactions; MET UTSAV an iconic cultural event; Foreign visits; Participation in Swaccha Bharat, Stand Up India contest and many more.

Career Opportunities

MET IOM offers intensive and extensive mentorship, and individual counselling to each and every student right from their first day of induction to the completion of the programme.  At the very first day, students are exposed to the lives of professionals, as they ascend the corporate ladder during the semesters I to IV, alumni and corporate executives are invited for sharing their experiences and challenges and also for mentoring.  In addition, Placement Preparatory Module is delivered to the students, wherein, intensive mock sessions are conducted to sharpen their competencies in presentation of ideas and case studies for problem solving capabilities.  Industry experts and alumni are also invited in the campus so that they can discuss about their ideas and experiences with the students on current and future business challenges.

MET IOM has a Placement Cell with fulltime staff members and faculty who are constantly approaching industry for placements. Since its inception, thousands of students are serving industry and business around the globe, such as America, Europe, South East Asia and Australia, besides a PAN India presence holding senior managerial portfolios.

Annual Mega Fest

MET Institute of Management celebrates its annual fest “MET UTSAV” as part of its cultural extravaganza. MET Utsav is held annually in the months of December or January.  It comprises of performing and non-performing art forms of students.  It also involves some group events along with outdoor and indoor sports like cricket, football, carom, chess, table tennis etc. Moreover, it also features talent shows including singing, mimicry, band performances etc. displaying and encouraging capabilities of students beyond the academics and their chosen career arena.

Future Endeavours

The leanings in MET IOM are enriched with an induction and competency development programme. These are offered through interactive and participative exchanges with eminent personalities, experts, gurus and practitioners offering an insight into the rich heritage of Indian culture and practices of ethical disciplines to deliver the Indian value system to the professionals of tomorrow. Therefore, there are on-going programmes in Yoga and meditation across the institute. A programme aimed at offering ‘earn and learn’ opportunities to students is also being evolved and pilots will be soon operational in the coming semester.
