NestLingue Montessori: Creating Young Minds of Tomorrow by Opening the World of Learning

“We help the children to create a healthy self-image within themselves and let grow their unique beauty and talents in the toddler and primary program.”

Established in 2006, International Toddler Community and Preschool NestLingue Montessori consciously supports and fully stimulates the developmental needs and sensitive integration of young children.

The Toddler and Primary classrooms are quiet, harmonious, respectful, and celebrate a loving environment for the age group 1 to 6. A wide variety of research-based learning materials fosters an individual’s growth and nurture the process of learning. The virtues of cooperation, independence, sense of community building and a belief in one’s own abilities create a fundamental sense of self-worth and self-confidence in the children that serves them throughout their life. The atmosphere of the school is built according to Feng Shui principles of harmonious space to maintain a safe environment.

A Comprehensive View of the Course Offerings

  • Toddler Educational Program is designed for children from 18 months to 3 years.

“A gentle beginning, developing trust in one’s self and in the world.”

In the first year of life, young children develop trust in themselves as they start to interact with their surroundings and discover their world. They are given an opportunity to explore the things that they love to experience.

The school provides a carefully prepared and stimulating environment that offers freedom of choice based on the human tendencies and sensitive periods of the child’s development, which motivates the “inner teacher” within the child to learn and discover.

It helps the children to develop physical, sensorial, intellectual, psychological, and social skills. There are seven areas of focus in the toddler’s classroom, and these areas support the development of 79 important skills. The children are observed through each skill and monitored based on a three point scale. The children learn the basics of self-care, build relationships with peers and adults, and gain respect for the world around them.

The key pointers of the school are working on the development of fine motor skills, such as hand grip and coordination and focus on the development and refinement of the senses, and create activities to experience tactile, visual, auditory, smell, and taste sensations. Likewise, it pays attention to gross motor skills and the coordination of the body in relation to oneself and the environment. The school imparts the development of language skills through its English and Czech lessons and the day-to-day conversations.

  • Primary Educational Program is designed for children from 3 to 6 years.

“Conscious learning forming the self”

The primary classroom is a “living room” for children. They choose their work from among the self-correcting materials displayed on open shelves. They explore the work in designated areas such as practical life, sensorial materials, language, mathematics, culture, and science. The Montessori approach and intentionally prepared learning environments serve to expand a child’s knowledge in all areas of learning through the child’s exploration and discoveries. The students experience a blend of freedom and self-discipline in a place specially designed to meet their developmental needs. The mixed groups allow children to experience a sense of community in a setting of cooperative learning and social awareness.

The prepared environment is divided into eight specific areas of education, in which we support the development of more than 700 skills. During the three years at NestLingue Montessori, the children achieve a full mastery of all the skills developed in each area of education.

The main objectives of the school are:

  • It develops basic motor skills through exercises of practical life, where children improve their ability to care for themselves and their bodies. They also take care of their surroundings, engage in social relationships, and develop skills to control their movements. For example they learn how to sew, work with nuts and bolts, and wash and iron clothes.
  • In the area of sensory skills, children practice computation, classification, naming, and describing sensory perceptions from different perspectives like length, width, temperature, weight, features, colors, position, etc.
  • The school focuses on three levels of language skills – reading, writing, and spoken language with cultivation of language through vocabulary, articulated speech, and the creation of sentences.
  • It sets the foundation for mathematics with specially designed tools that enable children to adopt the concept of figures, symbols, sequence, and arithmetic operations.
  • Another area of education is geography, where children learn the shapes of land and water areas, the names of the continents and countries, and each country’s flag. In the last, through the study of natural science, they learn to about the living and non-living, nature and learn about animals. Also, they focus on creative skills like art and music.
  • Apart from academics, the school instills lot of afternoon enrichments, such as Swimming, Yoga, Gym, Art Painting, Drumming, Guitar, and Flute.

Words of Wisdom

During the initial school life, young children have the ability to absorb information easily and without any effort. Dr. Maria Montessori called this ability Absorbent Mind. It serves the child up to the age of 6 years old. In this period of self-construction, the child is encouraged to do individual work to refine and practice skills, to concentrate, and to become confident while discovering the joys of learning.

Ground Rules For Respecting Children

  • Encourage children.
  • Speak to children in a tone and manner that you would use with your best friend.
  • Ask questions in a respectful tone of voice (no sarcasm or put downs).
