Odisha Partners with Coursera to Upskill 50K Unemployed Youth Covid19

Odisha Skills Development Authority has partnered with Coursera, the world’s leading online learning site, to train 50,000 unemployed young people during the COVID-19 crisis.

Launched on World Youth Skills Day, the project is part of Coursera’s global roll-out of the Workforce Recovery Program, where any state and country can give unemployed citizens free access to online learning.

The curriculum seeks to develop on-demand skills such as Data Science, Cloud Computing and the Internet of Things, while also providing advanced qualifications such as the Google IT Support Professional Certificate, intended to educate people with no technical experience in high-demand jobs.

The workforce initiative is part of the Coursera for Government program introduced in 2017 to provide government employees and people with on-demand skills. With this introduction, the State of Odisha joins a variety of U.S. states and countries around the world that use Coursera to provide job-relevant online learning to unemployed employees.

Learners can enroll in the courses by 30 September 2020 and will have access to the courses until the end of the year.
