Schools in Gujarat may reopen in Nov, govt plans to cut curriculum
Schools in Gujarat

The government of Gujarat may not re-open schools until November, taking into account suggestions from educators, experts and academics who unanimously believed that this academic session should not begin in the pre-primary section and the holidays of Navratri and Diwali should be reduced to compensate for the lost time.

At a virtual meeting chaired by Gujarat Education Minister BhupendrasinhChudasama on Thursday, nearly a dozen state-wide educators debated when to reopen the school and the reduction in the curriculum. It was proposed that the course be cut by 20 to 30%.

Every educator was of the belief that there should be a drop of 20 to 30 percent in the curriculum, after evaluating subject experts. They added, though, that it would be determined within a week because learning has already begun, so there could be possibilities that schools may have covered the portions that would be cut.
