Uttar Pradesh Leaps Forward in Education

The UP government has taken a strong step for the betterment of education in the state through the 2023–24 state budget presented in the Assembly by state finance minister Suresh Khanna on Wednesday. An impressive Rs 20,255 crore has been allocated for the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, which will revolutionize education in the state.

The Basic Education Council is set to have its infrastructure revamped with a whopping Rs 1,000 crore allocated under Operation Kayakalp. Moreover, the central government’s new PM SHRI scheme, with a provision of Rs 510 crore, will make a major upgrade to several schools possible. To further propel secondary education, the government has pumped Rs 1,003 crore into a range of programs under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.

Khanna announced that Rs 50 crore will be allocated to provide free uniforms to around 28 lakh students from above the poverty line, while Rs 1,000 crore is going towards furnishing two crore students of classes 1 to 8 with free sweaters, shoes, socks, and school bags. Furthermore, Rs 300 crore has been set aside to establish digital libraries at the gram panchayat and ward levels. Last but not least, a sum of Rs 11 crore has been designated for the construction and operation of primary and upper primary schools in Vantangia villages.

The budget has truly outdone itself this year, with an astonishing Rs 500 crore earmarked for the Alankar scheme. Not only that, but Rs 100 crore has been set aside for the creation of assets for Sanskrit schools, showcasing the government’s commitment to preserving ancient Indian traditions. Furthermore, Rs 10 crore has been set aside to provide scholarships to students studying Sanskrit in secondary schools, allowing them to continue their studies without financial constraints. But that’s not all—Rs 50 crore has been allocated for the establishment of state polytechnics, while Rs 33 crore has been set aside for infrastructure development, ensuring that students have the best possible learning environment.
