A Definite Path or A Hopeful Leap ?

A period of ten years is enough to say that life will change, including education. Given all the factors that will affect education, technology, if not already, has an upper hand. The involvement of technology at various levels of education is already at an exponentially high rate and will continue to do. Hence in the near future, it is evident that there will be a continued push towards individualized instructions for students. The blend of these two will allow students to interact with other students, teachers, authors, scientists, and other industry experts. This virtually connected world that goes beyond their immediate classroom will be their new classroom.

So, how are universities preparing for the future? The success of technology still relies on skilled academicians and educational institutions. Going ‘online’ is not the cure to every educational problem. Though technology can provide access to new skills, it is important that we align it with powerful curricula and programs created or led by the right educators. Every educational institution has its motto emblazoned on its walls. The grand ideas of exclusive education, leadership, humanity and others only take form into students through continued improvisations in the curricula.

The universities have embraced the pervasive power of technology and are preparing the students for the future. Already, many online platforms allow students to learn at their own pace and from their preferred place. The devoted years one spends on achieving academic qualifications won’t be the norm anymore. The present-day global village has increased interconnectivity with everyone and everything and the implication of this in education will result in the unification of educational content. The slight inclination towards informal learning will be normalized and learning would be accessible to all irrespective of their age and geographical division.

The omnipresence of technology at every diplomatic enclave will bring out the true potential of education. Many of the mainstream courses and jobs are already going out of vogue. With the conventional methods of working being digitized and automated, education will shift from learning the basics to mastering skills required for the future; experiential education will raise the bar. As a result, universities and other educational institutions in the next ten years will focus on offering experiential education. Their main focus would be to nurture students with tomorrow’s employable skills.

With education being channeled to gain more employable skills, it does not mean that one will no longer learn courses like social science or humanities. Rather, more practical applications of this field will be included in the academics.

Furthermore, assignments and essays might not be included in the academic curricula, instead, it would  involve more outdoor and teamwork activities. This will strategically also reduce paper writing tasks and students would be forced to seek answers practically. The end result of all this will lead to students bearing extensive knowledge and creative minds and tests will no longer define how much they know but how well can they apply it.

Only time will tell the applicability and plausible outcomes of this new educational strategy. However, education institutions are preparing themselves to meet the sprouting demands and offer an exclusive educational experience to the students.

Recognizing this growing trend among institutions, which are a step ahead in offering the ‘education for future’, we are bringing out the issue, “The 10 Most Prolific Education Institutions in the United States, 2019”.
