This is a special segment where we have invited Prof. (Dr.) Rose Varghese, the Vice-Chancellor of The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) to shed some light on the academic excellence and various achievements of this distinguished University.

  1. What is the long standing expectation of an Indian student from a University?

An Indian student from a University should be trained to excel in the subject of specialization with thoroughness in theoretical and practical knowledge besides imbibing strong moral and ethical values.

  1. How is Technology integrated into the conventional curriculum at The National University of Advanced Legal Studies?

The University has subscribed to e-books and online resources. It even provides internet connectivity for the students in the entire Campus, including the Hostel through Wi-Fi. Further, the Library is managed through a software application. Our proposal for RFID and Library automation has been approved.

We have an Open Air Theatre and a Multi- Media and State-of-the Art Air-Conditioned Seminar Hall with the facility for Video-Conferencing.

We have further initiated steps to capture the possibilities of implementing Solar energy and other modern technologies to facilitate efficiency in the day to day life in the Campus.

 

  1. Please cite some instances wherein The National University of Advanced Legal Studies could be tagged as a “Generative University”.

NUALS is a University established by The National University of Advanced Legal Studies Act, 2005 (Act 27 of 2005 of the Kerala State Legislative Assembly). The Chief Justice of India is the Visitor of the University, the Chief Justice of the High Court of Kerala is the Chancellor and the Minister for Education in the Government of Kerala is the Pro- Chancellor. The Executive Council consists, among others, a sitting Judge of the Kerala High Court, a Member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, Secretaries to the Government in the Departments of Higher Education, Finance and Law, the Advocate General, Chairman, Bar Council of Kerala, etc. This is a national level Institution of excellence in higher learning of law and legal research for which the University has established Centres of Study and Research.

We are offering a Five Year B.A. LL.B. Integrated (Hons.) Course and One Year LL.M. Course in Constitutional Law & Administrative Law and in International Trade Law, of which, admissions are made through an All India Level Admission Test for the National Law Universities in India (CLAT). The University is following a Choice Based Credit and Semester System and is offering vivid types of Elective Courses on Subjects of contemporary relevance and on frontier areas of law such as Competition Law, Investment Arbitration, Food Law and Policy, Fisheries Law, Maritime Law, Media & Telecommunications Law, Forensic Science, Psychological Medicine & Law, and Securities Law.
