(ICFAI conducts interactive webinar session on Reflections of a Technology Entrepreneur )

“Ambition for excellence, entrepreneurial mindset and keenness to collaboration are the key factors for an individual to grow in his career as an entrepreneur” said Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy, Founder Chairman, Cyient Ltd, during his talk on the topic “Reflections of a Technology Entrepreneur” at the 16th WiseViews Interactive Webinar Series conducted on August 06, 2021 by ICFAI for the benefit of students and working professionals  .

Dr. Reddy started his dialog by explaining the success journey of the Cyient Ltd and the policies implemented over the past 30 yrs that led to the success of the organization. He stated that every employee of Cyient is addressed as Associate to inculcate a sense of responsibility and ownership among them. They are also taught that Customer is the King and they all should work towards with passion and with a single goal of addressing the needs of the customers.

Dr. Reddy also stated that “Life is not stationary and it is moving at a rapid pace especially in these difficult times.  We should always strive to stay ahead of the circle and not behind to achieve success. We all need to have the ambition to excel in whatever field we choose and should have a drive for entrepreneurship”.

Dr. Reddy opined that during this pandemic the Work from Home concept has worked wonders to the organizations. The way employees adapted themselves to the idea is highly commendable.

Answering to a query raised in the Q&A session after the talk, Dr. Reddy said that “India has huge potential to come up with companies like Google and Facebook. In fact Indian origin guys like Satya Nadella and Sundar Pichai are heading two most successful organizations in the world”. Dr. Reddy further advised the young entrepreneurs that “The average lifespan of the organizations has come down from 90 yrs to 14 yrs. The changing technology requires smart people who are committed and adaptable to the new innovations. In order to stay ahead from your competitors, you need to come up with innovative solutions that simplifies the life of the people”.

The webinar was moderated by Prof. R Prasad, Director – Academic Wing, ICFAI Group and Prof. Sudhakar Rao, Director – Branding, ICFAI Group.

About 250 participants including entrepreneurs, Research Scholars, prospective students from various parts of the country registered in advance and participated in the event.

About the Speaker Dr BVR Mohan Reddy, Founder Chairman, Cyient Ltd.:

Dr. BVR Mohan Reddy is a visionary who firmly placed India on the global engineering, research and development (ER&D) services map by establishing Cyient (formerly Infotech Enterprises) in 1991. His efforts led Cyient to contribute more than $5 billion in cumulative exports from India to several global clients, including many Fortune 100 companies. His efforts led to the creation of jobs for engineering professionals across 14 countries.

Dr. Reddy is also the Founding Director of T-Hub, the largest start-up incubation center in the country.  Dr. Reddy took up several leadership positions to promote higher education in the country. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT-Hyderabad and also IIT-Roorkee, is a member of the Leadership Advisory Board (LAB) at the University of Michigan College of Engineering, USA, and a member of the Court of Governors of Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI). Dr. Reddy has Chaired the Evaluation Committee of Atal Ranking of Institutions of Innovation Achievements 2019 (ARIIA) constituted by Ministry of HRD.

Dr. Reddy received India’s fourth-highest civilian award—the Padma Shri—in 2017 for his contribution to trade and industry.  Dr. Reddy holds postgraduate degrees from IIT-Kanpur, and University of Michigan, USA. He is also the recipient of four honorary doctorates
