Dr. J. Ramachandran is the Chancellor of AMET University. He is also the Founder and Chairman of NAESEY (New Era Association of Educated Self-Employed Youth).  He came up with NAESEY in order to generate self-employment opportunities for the educated unemployed. In 2001, Dr. J. Ramachandran understood a systematic educational need in the field of Shipping and Logistics as he could foresee the future growth in trading and launched the unique sector-specific MBA Programme in Shipping & Logistics Management, which is the first of its kind in Asia. His entrepreneurial acumen and edupreneurial efforts won him many awards nationally and internationally. Dr. J. Ramachandran has received the esteemed “Lifetime Achievement Award 2017” for his commendable contributions to the Global Shipping Industry.

Sector-Specific Courses Offered

The University offers specialized MBA programme which is designed to equip students with adequate skills and knowledge in general management as well as in area of Marketing, Finance, Human Resources & Information Technology and added specialization in Shipping and Logistics areas. The college emphasizes more on management education and training in the areas of maritime business and logistics management.

AMET Business School offers innovative BBA programme with shipping business, communication skills and computer skills. It delivers a wide range of syllabi and innovative courses such as BBA with specialization in Shipping, B.Com. with Logistics & Computer Application, MBA in Shipping and Logistics Management, Shipping Finance, Oil & Gas Management, Human Resource Management, Fisheries Industrial Management, and Ph.D. programmes in these spheres. It has alliance with Plymouth University (UK), where BBA Shipping students can complete two years in AMET Business School and the third year at Plymouth University. AMET Business School organizes several workshops, conferences, cultural events and more every year.
