The Army Institute of Management, Kolkata (AIMK) is currently spearheaded by Maj Gen V S Ranade (Retd.) as the Director of the institute. Under the guidance of an iconic and trendsetter leader, who earlier served in the Indian Army as a decorated officer for 36 years, the institute has grown to be a magnificent centre for excellence in management education and a trendsetter in ethics abiding business institute of the 21st century.

The inception of the Army Institute of Management is quite simple and humble. Founded under the aegis of the Indian Army, the institute is primarily meant to groom the children of Indian Army personnel as Corporate Officers, with some students from the civilian stream getting an opportunity to experience the process. The Army Institute of Management is proud to nurture a unique method of developing Corporate Leaders for the future – in the Army way.

Currently, the business school offers two Years Full-Time Residential MBA program at the Kolkata campus and planning for indigenous Certificate Programs in the near future. In addition to its exceptional educational pedagogies based on the principles of discipline, values, and futuristic vision, the institute prepares students for a holistic and complete career in management.

The institute thrives for academic excellence and robust placements under the supervision of the Army Welfare Education Society—which manages the financial and operational processes. The institute now extends 20 percent of the opportunities to the general category students also.

The Army Institute of Management, earlier known as the National Institute of Management, Calcutta, was established on 28th July 1997, by the Army Welfare Education Society. Over the course of 25 years in the field of management education, the institute has broadly spread its wings by providing affordable and international standards of teaching management curriculum.

The institute has had a very humble start on the principle of discipline, ethics, value, academic excellence, and holistic growth. With such distinct values forming the bedrock of the institute, Maj Gen V S Ranade is leading the institute to glory.

To date, the Army Institute of Management has groomed more than 1400 students and is the ‘A++’ category ranked college in the country.

Library: Spread over 2000 square feet of area, AIM’s library is one of the attractive areas’ students get to access. The library accommodates a vast number of rich resources that extends up to 12,800 books with a generous capacity of 60 students at one time. The library encompasses resources pertaining to the field of Marketing, Finance, Systems, Human Resources, Operations, Business Analytics, Economics, Quantitative Techniques, Social Sciences, Business Law, etc.

The library has some of the rare national and international journals from the domain of management.

The institute is a member of the British Council Library and has access to some of the reputed national and international research databases. Topping up, the library infrastructure has well-built technology support, airconditioned ambiance, and an academic ecosystem.

Computer Lab: It is a well-facilitated, spacious, and LAN/Wi-Fi-enabled computer lab that holds the capacity to accommodate 60 students. The lab is extensively used for practical sessions in the Business Analytics domain and for organizing online GD & PI sessions for graduating students. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled, which helps students easily access the online repositories in order to accomplish their learning goals.

Lecture Hall: The lecture halls are enabled with ultramodern technology for conducting Hybrid classes. To mitigate the challenges posed by the pandemic in conducting physical classes, as a futuristic measure, AIMK has created hybrid classrooms of international standards that can simultaneously manage online and offline classes. The lecture halls dedicated to the likes of Dr Amartya Sen as Amartya Hall, etc., have the latest teaching aids with LED projectors, a revolving camera, a modern sound system, an updated computer system, and other various technology aids.

Seminar Rooms/Auditorium: Dedicated to war heroes, like Cariappa Hall, one of its seminar rooms has a longitudinal setting with 120 occupancies for Guest Lectures and another one in multiple round table settings for the workshops and case study meetings. The auditorium dedicated to Rabindranath Tagore as Tagore Hall has a capacity of 350+ with Dolby acoustics to hold Conferences and Cultural Programs.

Students Hostel: Having a holistic vision, AIMK has always ensured to ease the pain points of its students. This has solved the most tedious task students face when relocating or even when they are located far from the college vicinity. To solve this issue, AIMK has developed a best-in-class hostel facility that takes care of every basic need, and mandatory sophistication is given the highest priority. The hostel facility is augmented with a kitchen and a dining area attuned to provide a five-star experience.

Medical Facility: A top-notch medical service is one of the USPs of the institute. AIMK has collaborated with the command hospital of Alipore, Kolkata.
