Chinese Universities make Huge Gains in Global Rankings

Over the past decade, China has been regularly climbing in the world rankings as the country endured to promote policies to strengthen the performance of its high-potential institutions on the ranking benchmark.

According to a renowned Indian news agency, the data of Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and Times Higher Education (THE) ranking over the past decade.

The Chinese higher education is consistently improving their positions in the top-500 list, even as the dominance of countries like the US and the UK has been remarkable in the recent years.

China has risen its computation in the top-500 metrics from 16 universities in 2012 to 26 in QS World University Rankings (WUR), 2022. Indeed, in the latest edition of QS rankings, China has become the home to two of the world’s top 15 universities, i.e., Peking University, which stood 12th, and Tsinghua University, which stood 14th.

In the last decade, more universities in the country have broken the top-500 club of Times Higher Education (THE) rankings, and China’s representation in the top 500 has gone up from 11 in 2016 to 24 in 2022.
