Cyprus Institute of Marketing: The Cyprus Business School
Cyprus Institute of Marketing

Cyprus Institute of Marketing is one of the best business schools across the world and is a pioneer in providing quality distance learning. With over 43 years in the field, the institute has been consistently popular owing to the consistent delivery of quality education.

The Journey

It all started in 1978 to promote marketing and produce leaders in the field who could grab the essence of marketing in the right spirit. The Cyprus Institute of Marketing (CIM) has been operating in Nicosia since 1978 and in Limassol since 1984. The institute was originally set up in order to promote the science of marketing in Cyprus – a field that was then unknown. During the past 42 years, CIM has evolved into a complete Business School, offering courses in Business, Management, Marketing, Accounting & Finance, and Shipping.

Over the years, CIM has provided the opportunity to more than 10,000 students to acquire world-class qualifications and fulfil their aspirations. The majority of these are individuals who had missed out, for one reason or another, on the opportunity to study after graduating from secondary school, yet who always had the desire to pursue learning, gain further knowledge and qualifications, and advance their careers. Though CIM now serves students from all ages and all walks of life, it still offers exclusively evening classes – in order to cater for the needs of working individuals. And it still puts its emphasis on combining theory and practice.

“The fact that Cyprus is an extremely competitive market when it comes to higher education with more than 40 colleges and eight universities is also a challenge but CIM has come to differentiate itself and to provide a unique offering that no other academic institution can match,”

We are proud to be Cyprus’s Business School. And we are proud to offer the best education at the most affordable fees.

CIM programmes are unique in that they combine theory and practice, giving students the necessary tools for securing employment or for getting promoted at their existing job. CIM offers high-quality education and expert training which is tailored according to your individual needs, be they your personal career, family or any other commitments. The CIM distinguished lecturers and tutors begin with an initial evaluation and then structure a learning programme around your specific strengths and weaknesses, guiding you towards pre-set and pre-agreed goals. In an increasingly competitive market, CIM offers excellent, high-quality education that combines theory and practice, helping you jumpstart or further your career.

Distinct Features

Values

CIM strongly believes that universities should be guided by the principles of free and open debate and respect for those of different backgrounds or opinions. As members of the Association of Commonwealth Universities (the world’s first and oldest university association), we have signed the following declaration, to which we abide.

We:

– Strive to develop an environment in which all students can understand and pursue their beliefs, in the spirit of mutual understanding and respect, and use these as a pathway to wider moral and personal development.

– Support the provision of opportunities in the curriculum and extracurricular activity to foster this mutual understanding and respect.

– View these initiatives as part of a wider commitment to academic, social, and international development.

– Recognise our responsibility, both as institutions or individuals, to work together and lead by example in pursuing the above principles.

Challenges in the Education Sector in Middle East

Ever since its establishment, CIM has been a pioneer in the teaching of adult, in-career people. Offering exclusively evening classes to working individuals, it attracts especially those who, for one reason or another, missed out on the opportunity to study right after graduating from high school but who have always had the will to learn and further their careers. CIM has thus rightly been characterised as a ‘Second-Chance Institution’; as we like to say here, Learning Never Ends.

The first challenge we faced back in 1978 was to convince the Cypriot Organisations to invest in marketing since at that time the notion was unknown and misunderstood. Then we had to develop marketing as science so that students would study marketing and help their companies to grow. The fact that Cyprus is an extremely competitive market when it comes to higher education with more than 40 colleges and eight universities is also a challenge but CIM has come to differentiate itself and to provide a unique offering that no other academic institution can match.

Preparing Students for the Real Business World

The CIM programmes are unique in that they combine theory and practice, giving students the necessary training for securing employment or for getting promoted at their existing job. The tools have to do with the combination of theory and practice, developing the personal skills of the students e.g. presentation/negotiation skills and granting direct access to the business world through strategic partnerships with the leading firms in Cyprus. CIM offers high-quality education and expert training which is tailored according to your individual needs, be they your personal career, family or any other commitments. The CIM’s distinguished lecturers and tutors begin with an initial evaluation and then structure a learning programme around your specific strengths and weaknesses, guiding you towards pre-set and pre-agreed goals.” We have been very consistent with regards to our academic offering always placing quality before quantity and ensuring the highest possible return on investment. In an increasingly competitive market, CIM offers excellent, high-quality education that combines theory and practice, helping you jumpstart or further your career.

New Specializations

As one of the first higher education institutions in Cyprus to offer Shipping, and on the back of two very successful undergraduate programmes in shipping, it was only a matter of time before CIM introduced its MBA with Shipping. International shipping has always been critical to the development of world trade, and Cyprus has always profited from it. The inter-relationships between falling transportation costs, economic growth and globalisation in the twentieth century have made shipping one of the most profitable and exciting occupations. The CIM MBA with Shipping considers trading patterns and shipping organisation in their legal, financial and managerial context.

The course delivers a comprehensive and integrated overview of the core subjects essential to a thorough understanding of business administration and shipping management. It will develop your generic business skills whatever your background or career stage and it will enhance your critical analytical skills. Further, the interdisciplinary nature of the programme will prepare you to be a future professional who can function effectively in the complex business environment of the global marketplace. The diversity of supporting activities within the highly dynamic trade and maritime industry and its various sectors, consisting of many hundreds of large, medium and small firms, makes this choice possible.
