Sponsored by Kalgidhar Trust and established by Himachal Pradesh Government Act No. 3 of 2009, Eternal University is one of the first private and residential universities in northern India exclusively for girl students providing the safest educational environment for academic and spiritual development of the students. It offers a drug and pollution free environment for imparting cutting edge scientific and technical education amalgamated with spiritual rejuvenation and holistic development.

The university offers nearly 60 degree programs at undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. levels in basic sciences, Engineering & Technology, Renewable Energy, Economics, Commerce, Management, Nursing, Public Health, Agriculture, Food Technology, Biotechnology, Divine Music and Education by the highly trained and experienced faculty through its seven constituent colleges. The Kalgidhar Trust has been promoting rural education with major emphasis on women empowerment through a network of 129 CBSE affiliated Akal Academies in the six states of northern India. The 10+2 pass out girls from the under privileged rural families are selected and sponsored by the Kalgidhar Trust for providing free education at undergraduate level in the Eternal University in various disciplines and are employed in the network of Akal Academies.

Most interestingly, the Gram Panchayat Lana Bhalta in which the village Baru Sahib is located has been declared as the Cleanest Gram Panchyat of Himachal Pradesh under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in 2014-15.

The Nursing College of the University is one of the best nursing colleges located in the north of Delhi, which also offers M.Sc. Nursing in four areas of specialization with 100 % placement in prestigious chains of hospitals in the country. It is also the only university among the 17 private universities in Himachal Pradesh offering B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture and B. Tech Food Technology for girl students as per the ICAR’s Fifth Deans’ Committee recommendations. It has established girls units of NCC and NSS for providing all-round training for their career development. Currently, the University has 125 faculty members besides 55 other – guest, visiting and adjunct – faculty members from India and abroad who frequently visit the University and interact with faculty and students. Dr. Khem Singh Gill, Padma Bhushan and the former Vice chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, is the Vice President of the Kalgdhar Trust who frequently visits the university, motivates the students and faculty  and shares his valuable guidance.

Dr. Manmohan Singh Atwal, the Founder – Vice Chancellor of Eternal University with nearly 40 years of education and research experience in academia and industry in the USA, has been constantly visiting the University for ensuring its academic excellence.

The present Vice Chancellor, Dr. Harcharan Singh Dhaliwal, Ph. D. University California, Riverside, holds an extensive experience of about ten years working in advanced laboratories of USA, Switzerland, Israel, Japan, and Australia, and is also the leading plant breeder and biotechnologist. He has been taking keen interest in developing and strengthening the university for basic and applied research, institution-industry linkages, transfer of technology and IPRs. There are a number of other faculty members with rich experience and training in research, management, teaching and extension who are taking the university to reach new heights.

Meet the President

Honorable Baba Iqbal Singh Ji, the former Director Agriculture of Himachal Pradesh is the President of Kaldidhar Trust and Kalgidhar Society and also the Chancellor of Eternal University, Baru Sahib and Akal University, Talwandi Sabo, Bathinda, Punjab. While serving the Department of Agriculture in Himachal Pradesh in various capacities, he has made tremendous contribution in the development of agriculture in the state.

Baba Iqbal Singh Ji has successfully translated the vision of reverend and visionary educationists, Sant Attar Singh Mastuane  Wale and Sant Teja Singh, M. A. LL. B.(Pb.), A. M. Harvard after his retirement in 1986 with a few students at Baru Sahib which has flourished to a network of 129 Akal Academies and two universities. He has also been honored with Lifetime Achievement Awards at both, internal and national levels.

Scholarships and Financial Aid Granted by the University

To attract and encourage the meritorious students especially from the rural areas they are given tuition fee concession from 10% to 30% based upon their marks obtained(>70%) in the qualifying examination for various undergraduate programs. The students from various Academies of Kalgidhar Trust will be given 50% tuition fee waiver during admission in Eternal University, Baru Sahib. Decent fellowships are provided to the deserving Ph.D. students for teaching at undergraduate level and conducting practical. The University’s scholarship cell helps its students to apply for various scholarships under various national and state government schemes. The students from J & K in Engineering and Nursing get scholarships under the AICTE-PMSSS in the Eternal University.

Six Nursing students of Akal College of Nursing, Eternal University, namely Shivani Bharti, Rohini Gushpa, Kanchan Thakur, Neha Kumari, Shilpa and Ekta Dhiman have been commissioned in Military Nursing as Lieutenants. This has been the highest ever entry from Himachal Pradesh and that too from the Eternal University. The University holds a very high record of student placements. Most of its passed out students are either working in well reputed organizations or pursuing higher studies in the prestigious national and international institutions e.g. Dr. Jasneet Kaur, a Ph.D. research scholar of Akal College of Basic Sciences, Eternal University, Baru Sahib, has been working as PDF in the University of Naples, Italy for the last two years.
