Midland ISD is excited to participate in free, educational field trips to Sibley Nature Center during the 2024-2025 school year and Summer sessions. Thanks to the support of ExxonMobil and Sibley Nature Center, this initiative provides students with a unique opportunity to connect with the natural world and enhance their learning beyond the classroom.

Students from Midland and Greenwood ISD will embark on a two-hour educational journey at Sibley Nature Center. The experience includes a guided nature hike, an interactive tour of the education garden, and a visit to the Sibley Nature Center museum. These field trips are designed to complement academic subjects like Science, English, Art, and History, offering students a comprehensive understanding of the Flora and Fauna of the Llano Estacado.

“Midland ISD is proud to offer this invaluable educational experience to our students with the support of ExxonMobil and Sibley Nature Center,” said Lyndsey White, Midland ISD Chief Communications Officer, in a news release. “We are grateful to Sibley Nature Center for hosting these field trips, which will inspire our students to connect with nature and develop a deep appreciation for the environment.”

Research has shown that spending time outdoors can greatly enhance both mental and physical well-being. The field trips, sponsored by ExxonMobil, aim to highlight the importance of conservation, stewardship, and hands-on learning, all while ensuring students have fun and create lasting memories. By engaging with nature in a meaningful way, students will not only deepen their academic knowledge but also cultivate a greater appreciation for the environment and the need to preserve it.

Midland ISD is committed to providing high-quality educational experiences that prepare students for success in college, careers, and life. This partnership with ExxonMobil underscores our dedication to expanding learning opportunities and fostering a love of nature and the outdoors.
