Four Engineering Courses in Gujrati Medium to Offer by the Gujarat Technological University

On Tuesday, the Gujarat Technological University (GTU) announced to offer four undergraduate engineering programmes in their local language, i.e., Gujarati, from the current academic year.

In the 2022-23’s academic session, there will be 30 seats in each department, i.e., Civil, Mechanical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering. It will be offered by the constituent college Gujarat Power Engineering and Research Institute (GPERI) in Mehsana.

Since 2011, the institute has been running all these four engineering programs in the English language.

The GTU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof Navin Sheth, said, “the decision has been withdrawn as per National Education Policy 2020 reforms, in which it is suggested to offer technical courses in the mother tongue. As per records, last year, in 10 states, 19 institutes started engineering programmes in the six regional languages. They also tried to do the same, but for some reasons, they could not implement it, but in the current year, they are starting this initiative from Mehsana.”
