Himachal Pradesh School Holiday Declared due to Heavy Rains

The administration has cancelled all state-affiliated schools for two days, July 10 and 11, due to severe rain in numerous areas of Himachal Pradesh. ICSE, CBSE, and other boards’ schools may choose to close schools at their own level, according to sources citing Director of the Higher Education Department Amarjeet Sharma’s office directive.

The IMD, Shimla has made the decision to guarantee the safety of students and staff in light of the red weather signal in the state. For the next two days, all academic activities in schools and institutions are to be suspended in order to put the health of the students and employees first.

On the other hand, according to sources, Arindam Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner Mandi, has declared the closure of all schools and institutions for tomorrow due to heavy rain in the district.

The state’s meteorological department has issued a yellow warning for isolated areas in the plains and hills for severe rainfall, thundershowers, and lightning until July 9 and has predicted downpours throughout until July 11. Additionally, it cautioned of the possibility of flash floods in several basins, including Shimla, Mandi, Sirmaur, and Solan districts.

According to a different statement from the meteorological department, the ongoing Western Disturbance is anticipated to bring severe spells of heavy rain today to isolated sections of the Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Una, Hamirpur, and Bilaspur districts. A community in the Haroli region reportedly had roughly 10 dwellings damaged by the Himachal flash flood, according to media sources. An automobile was visible getting washed away by the local floodwaters in a number of popular social media footage.

Prior to last week, several districts in states like Kerala, Karnataka, and Goa issued shutdown orders for schools due to severe rain in various regions of the states.
