There are 4,596 vacancies for faculties in IITs across India; the Indian government has disclosed the data in Rajya Sabha.

While responding to the statement the CPM MP A.A. Rahim, the Indian government said, since September 2021, 286 teachers have been recruited by the 18 IITs like Bhubaneshwar, Roorkee and Bhilai IITs recruitment is in suspension meanwhile the states like Mandi, Patna, and Tirupati campuses, recruitment is in under process, informed by the government of India.

Many IITs like IIT-BHU, IIT-Bombay, IIT-Kanpur, and IIT-Delhi have already begun advertising faculty positions and accepting and inviting applications from SC, ST, EWS, OBC, and physically disabled candidates.

The candidates can apply for it till 4th September 2022. According to some renowned news sources, last November, the IITs were said to extend quota-based hiring for senior positions. All the educational institutes had also been forbidden from de-reserving and the reserving vacancies opened after the open year.
