“Machines can replace 40% of the workforce in the next 25 years“ predicted Dr. SS Mantha, former Chairperson, AICTE at the 56th WiseViews Leadership Conversations conducted by ICFAI on May 20, 2022. Dr. Mantha delivered a talk on “AI powered Atmanirbharta”.

Dr. Mantha observed that artificial intelligence or AI has taken full control on the human lives and the way they live. AI seems to be ruling our world today.“Our day begins with AI and ends with AI”, said Dr. Mantha. “AI does the heavy thinking for us by assimilating huge data which otherwise is impossible for humans to remember and predict. It finds the trends, patterns and associations in the data and makes us aware of what is ahead of our future”, explained Dr. Mantha.

“AI predicts the future based on the historical trends and informs us about the fact based decisions.  AI also detects the inefficiency of the data and analyses its accuracy” said Dr. Mantha. Dr. Mantha also asserted that AI today is controlling each and every aspect of the human life. Right from smart phones, the way we browse, the way we drive, the way we navigate etc., are totally controlled by the artificial intelligence. We probably do not notice that AI detects our preferences based on our browsing history and shows the results accordingly.

Dr. Mantha said that machine learning is a subset of AI and together they are determining the technological advancements of today’s world. “AI can help in creating more innovative content that can help in skilling, reskilling and upskilling of the personnel” he added.

Answering to a query in the Q & A session, Dr. Mantha said that “artificial intelligence can play a key role on agriculture, defence and healthcare to achieve self-reliance or Atmanirbharta in these areas”.

The conversation was moderated by Prof. R Prasad, Director – Academic Wing, ICFAI Group and Prof. Sudhakar Rao, Director – Branding, ICFAI Group.

About 250 participants including researchers, faculty, working professionals, and students attended the webinar which was also live streamed on the facebook.
