On Tuesday, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the National Health Authority (NHA) and Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), marking a significant advancement in Digital Health education in India. The agreement was formalized in the presence of Union Health Minister JP Nadda at a ceremony held in the national capital.
Under this collaboration, MUHS will introduce its Digital Health Foundation Course (DHFC) to the NHA and co-develop additional Digital Health programs as recommended by the NHA. These initiatives are aimed at supporting the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). The NHA will continue to guide national policy in the digital health sector, focusing on developing an interoperable digital health ecosystem. The MoU also envisions the creation of further educational courses in this domain.
Union Health Minister Nadda described the partnership as a milestone in integrating digital health education into medical training. He emphasized that this collaboration will enhance the skills of medical professionals and facilitate the broader adoption of the ABDM, ultimately improving healthcare access for millions of Indians.
Nadda highlighted the importance of ongoing capacity-building for health workers to effectively implement the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and praised MUHS for developing a course tailored to address specific needs in the healthcare sector. He assured that the NHA will ensure the practical application of these initiatives to strengthen the healthcare system.
Deepti Gaur Mukerjee, CEO of NHA, noted that the partnership with MUHS would significantly boost the adoption of digital health solutions in India. The DHFC, supported by the Koita Foundation and designed by leading experts, will provide comprehensive training in digital health fundamentals. This course will be accessible to medical students, doctors, and healthcare professionals through various platforms, including Mission Karmayogi’s iGOT platform, facilitating Digital Health certification and continuing medical education credits.
The event was also attended by Union Health Secretary Apurva Chandra, senior officials from the Union Health Ministry, Rizwan Koita of the Koita Foundation, and other distinguished representatives from MUHS.
