Online Teaching: Chicago Teachers vote for Remote Learning

Chicago – America’s third largest district – shifted its education online amidst a majority vote for Online Teaching/Remote Learning by Chicago Teachers Union. The voting was carried out late Tuesday to pause in-person teaching and instead working remotely for a brief period until January 18, 2022, or till the time COVID-19 cases falls below a non-risky threshold.

The union of 25,000 members has demanded to make testing mandatory and negative reports from students as well as staff before they return to the schools. During the voting on Tuesday, 73% of the teachers voted for a shift to remote learning.
