Considered as the Jewel of the Oxford Group of Institutions, the Oxford College of Pharmacy was commenced in the year 1992. It renders intellectual and scholarly environment to the prospective pharmacy students along with maintaining strong industry and hospital links. The college is committed to meet the demand for quality pharmacy education by continuously updating it with professional changes. It visions to provide a single window delivery of total pharmacy healthcare needs. The mission of the institute is set to provide learner-centered Pharmacy healthcare education. It further wants to render patient-centered care, commit to performing community-oriented research all while building strong community needs. The institute promises to fulfill the ambitions of the students through laying equal importance on a sound education, inculcation of a positive mental attitude, and the qualities to succeed in the career. Presently, it is providing premier education to more than 20,000 students in the network of 30 institutions including more than 85 academic streams.

About the President

Marking the foundation of a new era of education, late S. Narasa Raju established the Oxford Educational Institutions in the year 1974 under the aegis of Children’s Education Society. He started his professional journey as a schoolteacher and later emerged as one of the eminent educationists of the country. Since then, The Oxford Educational Institutions, existing for over four decades in the education arena, have evolved as an inspiration for knowledge explorers across the world. This immense growth has been the direct result of the leadership and guidance of S Narasa Raju and S. N. V. L Narasimha Raju. It is a living testimony of S Narasa Raju’s indomitable will, single-minded dedication, and an unrelenting commitment to his goals. S N V L Narasimha Raju has made the vision of the institution come true with his excellent managerial skills.

Education at its Best

At the institution, scholars can find a framework that keeps the entire pharmacy education updated to the present scenario at Diploma, UG, and PG level. The college has an outstanding educational design and capacity to develop the ‘workforce’ for the diversity of setting like Community pharmacy, Hospital pharmacy, R&D, Academia, Industrial production, across varying levels of service and competence.

Initially, at the establishment, the institution used to offer the only Diploma in Pharmacy and Bachelor of Pharmacy programmes. However, now, the institute covers a wide range of courses viz. Master of Pharmacy with specialization in Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology & Pharmaceutics coupled with Pharm. D and Pharm. D Post Baccalaureate programmes.

The college enjoys the approval of ACITE and Pharmacy Council of India. The college is recognized by the Government of Karnataka and is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. NAAC has accredits the college with B+ grade in the second cycle.

The college boasts of excellent infrastructure, which provides the entire student’s needs under one place. It has a well-equipped and a comprehensive library, which offers students with all the reference material, they require for an in-depth understanding of their specific subjects. The library also subscribes for journals on the relevant subjects. There are separate hostels for boys and girls that are comfortable and reasonably priced. Vijaya Bank, a nationalized bank, has an extension counter in the campus for facilitating easy financial transactions. For transport, a fleet of buses is at the disposal of the students and faculty for industrial site visits.

Wide Industry Placements

The Oxford College of Pharmacy works actively to bring career opportunities to the campus and students. It concentrates on exposure of scholars to take part in interviews and career development seminars and guest lectures. The college’s placement and guidance cell regularly arranges campus interviews and do the follow-up of placement processes.

According to the college, campus recruitments have been conducted in various organizations related to Pharmacovigilance and clinical research, pharmaceutical formulation development, Pharma marketing, Pharmacist in hospitals, and pharmacist in middle east countries. In the near future, the college plans for a mega job, which will provide benefits and may attract many other professionals and alumni of this institution. Regarding the placements, “The students are aptly inculcated with necessary skills and knowledge which the recruiters generally look for”, shares Dr. M Padmaa Paarakh, Principal.

Achievement Column

The institution is proud of its achievements and provides facilities for faculty and student research activities. The Institute motivates the students to devote their time to extra-curricular activities and enhance their innate talents. As far as notable achievement go, there are two ongoing faculty research works in progress with the financial support of Rs.9.5 Lakhs from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. The college claims that the institution’s students have achieved university Gold medals and individual subject ranks for 2014-2018 academic year. Students have successfully obtained first, second, and fifth ranks in B.Pharm exam from all over Karnataka. Similarly, first, sixth and tenth ranks in Pham D [PB] exam were also scored from The Oxford College of Pharmacy. Additionally, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences announced 75 individual subject ranks, which is a proud moment for the college.

Promoting Pharmacy Education

The college regularly motivates students and teachers to attend national and international level conferences and workshops. Consequently, this enables them to understand and gain knowledge of current developments in the pharmacy field. The college emphasizes more on research activities and presentation of posters and publications in various research platforms. It also supports an outstanding rank holder with a complete waiver of tuition fees and internship students with stipends. For the upcoming years, The Oxford College of Pharmacy is planning to expertise students with additional skills towards regulatory affairs, intellectual property rights, drug safety and Pharmacovigilance, and clinical research.
