Reopening School

A plan to re-open schools and other educational institutions has been framed by the centre. They will be starting in a phase-wise manner from September 1 till November 14. The discussions have been done by the group of ministers on the Covid-19 management, headed by the health minister Harsh Vardhan.

This decision will be included in the final unlock guidelines that are to be issued by the end of this month. The final decision regarding how to bring students back to the classroom will be taken by the state government.

“The state, where case loads have been low, have also expressed their keenness to bring back students of senior classes,” said a senior official who was part of the discussions.

The discussions show that the government is not keen on calling primary or pre-primary children to school anytime soon and they will continue with online classes. First phase will be 10th to 12th classes. The second phase will be Class 6 to 9.
