Next week, the Tomaree Peninsula will honor public education with a special awards ceremony.
Since more than 20 years ago, local schools have celebrated NSW Public Education Week with an awards ceremony during Term 3, Week 3 (5–9 August).
“This year we will be celebrating what makes them (students) proud to belong to public education in NSW at a special awards evening on Tuesday, August 6, for Education Week 2024,” Jo Ann Williams of Tomaree High School told News Of The Area.
“Tomaree Public Schools, Shoal Bay Public Schools, Soldiers Point Public Schools, Anna Bay Public Schools, Bobs Farm Public Schools, and Tomaree High Schools take this opportunity to recognize the successes and accomplishments of students, staff, and community members.”
With local schools frequently scoring well in NSW HSC scores and outperforming the national average in NAPLAN, Port Stephens is home to some excellent public education facilities.
According to Ms. Williams, “well-qualified and highly experienced teachers create learning experiences that connect and create a sense of belonging.”
“Students feel inspired and supported in our schools by amazing opportunities and a caring community.” “As a community, we have much to be proud of—the excellent educational experience we offer, which shapes every student’s successful future,” the speaker stated.
The purpose of organizing Public Education Week is to spread awareness of the school facilities, values and notable contributions made by the teachers. It highlights the achievements of successful students excelling in different levels of academics, sports and other essential skills.
