Regent International Schools: Preparing Children for their Brightest Future

“We provide schooling of first choice among parents and children seeking excellence in international education in all aspect of its core curriculum and co-curricular activities”.

Established in 2011, Regent International School was the first and only international school in Klang, Malaysia. The school is pioneering the field of education through dedication to cater to its students’ needs.

After 7 successful years, Regent Education Group proudly consists of 4 full-fledged international schools spread across Peninsula Malaysia. The school provides primary and secondary school education to Malaysian as well as international students. It was established with the objective of providing affordable international education and since then, it has been providing students with a rich and diverse learning environment.

The school believes that today’s children are tomorrow’s leaders: hence the name ‘Regent’ as the word means ‘Leader in Waiting.’ The philosophy of the school originates from the thought that academic qualification must be complemented with values, knowledge and competencies as well as life skills that will produce well-rounded individuals.

Inception Story

Regent International School officially opened its doors to students in July 2011. The school was based in Wisma Lourdes at the Church of Lady of Lourdes, Klang. The seeds for the school were however sown several years earlier when a group of senior educators spearheaded by Dato Dr Nelson Renganathan began to plan its vision and mission.

The group, from diverse educational backgrounds, drew up the original blueprints for the school at Wisma Lourdes, Klang. They recognized the need for a good quality and well-rounded education, based on an internationally recognized curriculum, delivered by caring and dedicated educators. It was also to be affordable which meant that it was within the reach of the middle- income group.

This is a fairly common formula when it comes to running a good school but what sets the school apart is the ethos of the school, which is broadly centered on 12 virtues that the school seeks to instill in its children. They are the guiding principles that help make them true global citizens irrespective of their academic abilities.

In 2016, Regent Education Group was presented as the Most Recognized Brand in Innovative in Private Education Excellence at the ASEAN Outstanding Business Awards. A highly coveted prize awarded by the ASEAN Retail-chains and Franchise Federation. This award further solidifies Regent’s standing in the country as one of the top International Schools.

Message from the Chairman

We are part of a special community that places a high priority on quality teaching and learning; a community where good character matters and a community that, above all else, values its children. We are optimistic about their future contributions to the world.

Helping children become life-long learners is a goal toward which we continually strive by instilling a strong desire in our students to learn. Guided reading, writing workshops, inquiry-based science and mathematics and hands-on social studies are key components of our programme that provide our students with opportunities to demonstrate the competencies needed to contribute and to succeed in a changing world.

Our students themselves are another reason why this community is a special one. Beyond the academic work they do in class, with the guidance and support of their parents and educators, our students are learning to become responsible global citizens.

We are very honored and privileged to serve as Board members of Regent International School and are looking forward to making each year exciting, engaging and successful for each of our children. Finally, we’re sure that if you haven’t discovered this already, you’ll come to see what we see and that the Regent community truly is a special place.- says Dato’ Dr Nelson Renganathan, Chairman of Regent International School

A Hub of Education and Empowerment

The first Regent International School was opened in Wisma Lourdes, Klang, Selangor in 2011. Being the first international school in Klang, the local community received the opening very positively. Starting with close to 200 students, the school in Klang quickly grew to over 500 students which prompted the moving to the new main campus in Jalan Kopi, Klang in 2013. As the demand for enrolments exceeded the capacity of the campus, in 2015, Regent was welcomed back into Wisma Lourdes which would serve as a branch center of Regent International School Klang. This branch is now the dedicated IGCSE center for Key-Stage 4 students who are preparing to sit for their examinations, as well as graduation. After 8 years of contributing to the educational landscape of Klang, Regent International School Klang now has over 1000 students combined in the 2 campuses.

The second Regent International School was opened in 2013 in Sungai Petani. Taking over the facilities of AIMST university, the school is fully equipped to provide the best international education at an affordable rate to the community in the North of Peninsula Malaysia.

In 2015, the third Regent School began in Kuantan, Pahang operating from the former St. Thomas school which has a  rich heritage in the city.

Most recently, Regent has opened its fourth international school in the heart of the vibrant city of Puchong, Selangor. A campus within the city, Regent International School Puchong is a state of the art, purpose-built facility that draws its inspiration from the modern schools in Japan and Hong Kong. The campus is able to accommodate 700 students and features 2 fully equipped science labs, a multi-purpose hall, as well as a rooftop football field and basketball court.

Diversified Curriculum

Cambridge Primary, typically for 5-11 year olds, gives schools a curriculum framework to develop English, Mathematics, and Science skills, knowledge and understanding in younger learners. Cambridge Primary provides guidance for curriculum development and classroom teaching and learning. It enables educators to assess children’s learning as they progress with two optional assessments: Cambridge Primary Progression Tests and Cambridge Primary Checkpoint.

Cambridge Secondary provides a progression from Cambridge Primary – or can be used as a standalone curriculum – to develop learners’ skills and confidence in English, Mathematics and Science. It offers a curriculum framework for educational success for/of learners, typically 11-15 years old, with an optional testing structure.

Cambridge IGCSE – It is the world’s most popular international curriculum for 14-16 year olds, leading to globally recognized and valued Cambridge IGCSE qualifications. Schools worldwide have helped develop Cambridge IGCSE, which provides excellent preparation for the Cambridge Advanced stage including Cambridge A/AS Levels and Cambridge Pre-U, as well as other progression routes.

It incorporates the best in international education for learners at this level. It develops in line with changing needs, and is regularly updated and extended. Cambridge IGCSE teachers can draw on excellent resources, training and advice from subject experts.

A Door to Student Success

The school academic and co-curricular contents are carefully formulated, regularly reviewed, and refined to ensure that the students are not only academically competent but also instilled with the right values and attitude.

The students are educated with the 12 core virtues constantly in mind. These virtues act as guiding principles in their pursuit of becoming global citizens. Regent aims to instill all these virtues onto all alumni so that they may leave the institution and succeed anywhere in the world in their future endeavors.

At Regent, students are constantly exposed to activities that prepare them to become truly global citizens. Regent International School is a member of the Association of International Malaysian Schools (AIMS) as well as the International Schools Association of Kuala Lumpur (ISAKL). Through these two platforms, students gain constant exposure and interaction with other international schools in the country and also in the ASEAN region.
