A Game-Changer for Students!
“We are setting up Digital University which will drastically reduce the cost of higher education and skill education and increase accessibility to a wide variety of education and skill programs,” Pradhan stated in a virtual address to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit on Monday.
Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced the exciting news of India setting up a Digital University at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit virtually on Tuesday, which will revolutionise the higher and skill education sectors. This digital university will not only bring down the cost but also increase accessibility to a vast array of educational and skill programs. This is a major step towards offering more opportunities and quality education to students!
A Groundbreaking Initiative
The minister announced that the government was taking strides to create multiple entry and exit points in the education system. This, he said, would provide youth with the opportunity to gain horizontal and vertical mobility across disciplines in both general education and skill education. Emphasising the role of open-source digital tools, Mr. Pradhan stated that it was these tools that had helped India realise its ambitions in the education and skills sectors. With these advancements, India has been able to bridge the gap between traditional education and the rapidly changing job market. Education, he said, is becoming more tech-enabled and personalised, allowing individuals to build meaningful and successful careers.
Strengthening regional security and fostering better bilateral relations, the SCO brings together eight powerful members—China, India, Russia, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan—to form a permanent intergovernmental international organisation.
