Noida International University (NIU) is a UGC recognized world-class university. The campus is spread across 75 acres and is strategically located near the ultra-modern Yamuna Express Educational Hub in Gautam Budh Nagar, Greater Noida. NIU, through its 11 schools, offers more than 150 programs in various streams. NIU’s School of Architecture offers the degree of bachelor of architecture. The school is committed to impart comprehensive knowledge to students. It has three main USPs engraved in its education, which are

The curriculum of B.Arch course has been designed as per recommendations by Council of Architecture and matches with international standards of pedagogy. All faculties have vast academic experience along with industry-wide exposure of various scales of projects.

The school conducts regular interactive sessions with industry experts and international speakers for motivating the students. They organize various site visits for project selection as a part of architecture design subject and the teaching curriculum. At NIU, students attain the opportunities to interact with leading names of architecture from all over world. Moreover, they have organized more than 20 workshops, symposiums, and students also participate in events organized by institutions like GIZ Embassy of Germany, Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), CII workshops, and so on.

The Visionary Leader

Ar. Rajendra Kumar is the Director of School of Architecture, Noida International University. He has graduated from Chandigarh College of Architecture, India and has attained the post-graduation degree from Politecnico Di Milano, Italy. He has worked in Spain, Italy, China, and UAE. Rajendra has been awarded the “Indian Young Achievers Award” in 2009. He has been invited as speaker at Columbia University, New York, and Harvard University, USA. A recipient of Fellowship by Congress for New Urbanism, USA, Rajendra has gathered project experiences in various fields including housing, hotel, township, and private residences. Some of his other projects include Kolkata Twin Tower, Bangalore Township, Shanghai Medical City, for Shanghai, Spanish Pavilion, World Expo 2010, and so on.

Rajendra’s articles are published in newspapers, magazines in India, Italy, Spain, and Russia. He is actively involved in academics and has been a jury member of many competitions. His works have been exhibited in many exhibitions and events in India and abroad.

Remarkable Accomplishments and Collaborations

Throughout its celebrated journey of achieving academic excellence, NIU has achieved many noteworthy landmarks. The university has worked on a Joint Studio Project with RVS School of Architecture, Dindigul (Tamilanadu) on a Madurai Smart City Project. The outcome of the program was presented to the local municipal corporation, the mayor, and local news media.

The School of Architecture launched Student Chapter, “Indian Green Building Council” for awareness and understanding of sustainability and green architecture as part of architectural education. Students of the university conducted meeting and presentation in Kathmandu with Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, Ex. Prime Minister of Nepal. They have also participated in a workshop with students of Harvard University, USA on theme of “Sanitation Issues of Mumbai”.

The school engages with international universities from USA and Europe for academic collaborations and exchange programs for providing academic and career exposure to the students. Moreover, Ar. Rajendra Kumar was invited to speak at Columbia University, New York and Harvard University. For future collaborations, the school has scheduled few more academic workshops with international universities for students, as part of the academic curriculum.

IGBC’s student chapter gives opportunity to students to engage with “Green Building Industry” and access of various awareness workshops by industry giants. Regular visit of international speakers at the school provide students a global exposure. The institute aims to provide quality exposure of industry through site visits and interaction with the industry experts. They encourage students to visit major architecture offices, participate in large exhibitions, conferences, and so on. Students are trained with the latest software and digital technology in their course study, which help them throughout their professional career. As a result, graduates from the institute, are working in renowned architecture organizations of India and many of them are carrying out their own ventures.
