Summer Vacations Have Been Extended in West Bengal Schools Due to Extreme Heat

The West Bengal state government has announced that the summer vacation of the schools will be extended till 26th June 2022, as extreme heatwave condition has been observed in the month.

But the notice for extension of summer vacation will not imply on the schools in hilly areas like Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts.

In a notification, Manish Jain, the Principal Secretary (Education), said that the decision was taken for the safety of the students. He added, “About declaring the vacation extension due to the extreme heatwaves, because according to the reports few people have died because of heat and humidity, so the authorities decided to extend the vacations.

The notice is declared for the West Bengal Board of Primary and Secondary Education. The summer vacations have already been extended from mid-April. The statement was announced on the very next day of the death report of three elderly pilgrims during a religious function at Panihati due to heat and humidity.
