The state government of Maharashtra have decided to double the scholarship amount for students of seven notified minority communities so that the students can easily pursue higher education in the current academic year.
The students of the notified minority are as follows- Muslim, Buddhist, Christine, Jain, Sikh, Zoroastrian, and Jew; all the students from these communities who want to pursue or else pursuing their higher education are entitled to get an annual scholarship for up to Rs.50,000 as against Rs.25,000.
As per the state government resolution issued on 4th October, the annual income cap avails the scholarship should be Rs 8 lakh a year. And the students from arts, commerce, and science backgrounds will receive up to Rs 5000 a year in the current academic year.
This scholarship amount will be deposited in the student’s Aadhar-linked bank account in October and February. And the amount shall be doubled after a decade.
