Trident University offers 22 academic programs at the doctoral (5), master’s (8), bachelor’s (8) and associate’s (1) levels, as well as certificate programs that are geared towards working adults. The university opened its doors in 1998 offering the Ph.D. in Business Administration degree.
The notable programs of the University include Master of Business Administration (MBA), which is one of the University’s most popular programs, while the newest program to be offered is the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program. Life of a Trident Student
The life of a typical Trident student is all about balance, as the University mostly attracts adult and working students who are already very busy in life. Even at the bachelor’s level, the students have significant life experiences. It apparently seems that many of the students of this university have either served or are serving in the U.S. military, which clearly signifies frequent or last minute deployments. The Trident students – both military and non-military – have significant professional experience as adults and many of them have families.
The University caters to a wide variety of students with unique needs, but what is common with all of them is that they are all goal-oriented and driven, coming from many different countries and bringing in experiences from almost every industry to the classroom.
Trident University organizes each year a series of events with Operation Gratitude. Additionally, the university is involved in multiple ways with the Gary Sinise Foundation and Snowball Express, including the annual Snowball Family Adventure, and support for the organization’s “Walk of Gratitude” each December in Dallas. Locally, Trident lends support to the Race on the Base, which is held each February in Los Alamitos, CA.
The Key Personality of Trident
Being at Trident since 2000 and contributing enormously in the community resulted in Dr. Frank Gomez named the first Professor Emeritus in 2016. He has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and is also considered to be a public health expert, specializing in urban noise pollution, air quality, and health and housing.
Dr. Gomez is both an academician and a practitioner, with experience as a lecturer at UCLA and California State University – Northridge, and holding positions with the Department of Health Services for Los Angeles County and State of California – Education Subcommittee. He actively fosters relationships with students past and present, and has served on a significant number of dissertation committees. He is also a winner of Trident’s Board of Trustees Award.

A Notable Alumnus
Roberta Phillips Yawu (MBA, 2016) is a notable alumnus of Trident University. Born in Liberia and currently residing in U.S., Yawu is a PC Support Systems Analyst. She has graduated magna cum laude from Trident’s MBA program in 2016. For her, life was not at all easy as during her formative years in Liberia she has deal with the societal expectations for a woman. She has not only overcome the difficult situation, but also helped more girls to enter the field of information communication technology.
