Mohanlal Sukhadia University (erstwhile Udaipur University) at Udaipur is a NAAC accredited “A” grade State University established by an Act in the year 1962 to cater the needs of higher education in Southern Rajasthan with more than 2.25 Lakh Students. The University is located in Aravalli Hill Area largely dominated by tribal population.

Outstanding Educational and Infrastructural Facilities

The University College of Law, Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Udaipur is the constituent college of the university and the oldest college in the state running since 1946. At present, the college is catering various courses to 1768 students. The college started LLB course at its initial stage. Many other courses were added at a later stage including LL.M., PG Diploma in Company Law & Secretarial Practice, B.A. LL.B. Five Years Integrated Programme, B.Com. LL.B. Five Years Integrated Programme, P.G. Diploma in Labour Welfare and Personnel Management (DLL), P.G. Diploma in Criminology and Socio-Economic Crimes, One Year P.G.Diploma in Banking Law and Finance Management, and One Year P.G.Diploma in Intellectual Property Law from the session.

The college meticulously blends theory and practical knowledge in classroom teaching and arranges various courses related programs to inculcate curriculum based education and non-teaching staff by indirectly involving in academic progression through peripheral activites. In recent years, the college has introduced new and innovatives techniques for curiculum as well as evaluation. It has introduced open book test for internal evaluation to enhance reasoning, rational and mental capacity of students.

The college annualy publishes its law journal named, “Mewar Journal of Legal Studies”, also listed in UGC list  for which articles are invited from various academicians from Universities, colleges, scholars and lawyers.

The University College of Law is accommodated in an independent three floored building. It has a new wing containing two well-furnished floors with a seminar hall having a sitting capacity of 400 students. The college has 25 well ventilated and well-furnished classrooms with platforms and podiums.

The college has a separate computer lab with 40 computers and internet facility with LAN, latest features and online journals. It is under CCTV surveillance. There is one moot court hall, one legal aid centre, one IQAC cell and a full furnished and well spaced canteen catering the needs of the students. The college also has a well-ventilated library which subscribes to various law reports and its collection also comprises of General Reading and Personality development books. It also consists of 7 playgrounds, one multipurpose indoor hall one gymnasium and one big auditorium. The college always strives for cleanliness and maintenance of the college and its infrastructure.

Erudite Leadership

Prof. (Dr.) Anand Paliwal is the Dean of the College of Law. He personally monitors all the activities of the college and also interacts with the students to know their feedback. Dr. Paliwal conducts regular meeting with teaching and non-teaching staff for smooth functioning of the college. Besides this, the students too can access the dean on any of the college related issues which are duly addressed. He has also taken various intitiatives like problematic examination methods, discussions, and debates for smooth functioning of the college.

Achievements of Alumni

Many alumni of the college have achieved success in various competitive exams. Some of the noted achievements are RJS – 20, other state judicial services – 25,  A.P.P.-10, NET-30, Legal Advisor (State Govt.)-10, and RPSC & GPSC College Lecturer-15.

Scholarships and Financial Assistance

Candidates applying for various courses are provided with equal opportunity to apply for admission on basis of merit. There is reservation for students belonging to differently abled categories as per UGC notifications. Students belonging to economically weaker sections of the society are also given various benefits. Scholarships are provided upto 100% of the fees under various central and state government schemes to all eligible and SC/ST/OBC and minority students. Students having financial problems are allowed to pay fees in installments or are given fee concessions.

Exposures and Career Opportunities

The college conducts a review meeting after every semester exam to analyze the student’s performance in every subject and the rate of absenteeism. Mentorship program is undertaken to bridge the gap among senior and junior students. The students are encouraged to participate in intra-college and inter-college events like woorkshops, seminars , national and international moot courts , and so on.

The college annually conducts various sports, indoor/outdoor games, cultural and other academic debates, symposiums, conferences, extnesion lectures by supreme court and high court judges, advocates and other eminent personalities from various sections of the society for students to explore their hidden talent and skills.
