Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering (VVCE) has always been embracing technology up-gradation. Empowering Students with Cutting Edge Knowledge

Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering, popularly referred as VVCE, one of the most prestigious engineering colleges in Karnataka, was established in the year 1997 by Vidyavardhaka Sangha, a synonym for quality education established in 1949.  VVCE was started with just four UG programs with an annual intake of 240 students.  Since then, it has grown in leaps and bounds to become one of the top 20 engineering institutes in the State of Karnataka. It is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, approved by AICTE, New Delhi and recognized by Govt. of Karnataka. It functions through its Board of Governors constituted as per AICTE guidelines. The college has taken strict measures as per AICTE norms to avert any instances of ragging or bullying in the premises.

VVCE is one of the first institutes to implement ERP for all the sections of academics right from admission to the examination. Now, for the upcoming academic year the college has implemented Lecture Capture Solution wherein all the lectures will be recorded so that it can be used by the faculty for self- improvement and by the students for clarity in understanding difficult concepts. This also leads to flipped classroom teaching in the near future. Moreover, all the e-books and resources are available in the digital library. VVCE is spread over a lush green 23-acre campus in the heart of the Mysuru. It has an excellent infrastructure with modern laboratories, classrooms, and an overall Wi-Fi facility thus providing a propitious ambience for learning.

Providing Comprehensive Education to meet societal Needs

At present, VVCE offers six UG programs such as Computer Science Engineering (CSE), Information Science Engineering (ISE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical & Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) and Civil Engineering with an annual intake of 540 students and four PG programs such as MBA, M.Tech in Machine Design, M.Tech in Signal Processing, M.Tech in Computer Science with an annual intake of 172 students. It also has nine VTU recognized Research Centers offering Ph.D. programs, with a total student population of 2700.  Recently, five undergraduate programs of VVCE viz., CSE, ISE, ME, EEE and ECE are been accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi.

VVCE’s vision is to become a preeminent institution in engineering and management education supporting individuals for significant contribution to the society. Many alumni of VVCE are in high positions and are contributing to the growth of VVCE through their association with VVCE alumni association.

Sri Gundappa Gowda, Honorable President of Vidyavardhaka College of Engineering has contributed towards making significant progresses in recent years. Under his able guidance, VVCE is now honored as a unique institute in engineering and management education and research. He has taken upon a lot of pioneering initiatives for the college. The incubation facility, industry-academia board in each department, R&D policy, and lecture capture solution are few to mention. Moreover, he has taken certain steps towards providing the best possible environment for students and staff to excel in their chosen field.

Under the Presidency of Sri Gundappa, VVCE has hosted the Charter Ceremony of an International Club – VVCE Toastmasters. Toastmasters International is a USA headquartered charitable educational association, operating clubs around the globe for the purpose of improving communication, public speaking and leadership skills of its members. It offers a program of communication and leadership projects aimed at helping people to learn the art of speaking, listening and thinking, through its member clubs.

Making Students Industry Ready

VVCE has a full-fledged training and placement department with excellent infrastructure support at every stage of the placement process. The integrated training programs foster the best training with a view to equip students with an essential set of skills required in the industry.

With an objective to provide industry-oriented skills to each of their engineering students, VVCE  certain training programs are provided at every level of their study such as Communication Skills Training for first & second semester students; Personality Development Training for third semester students; Soft Skills Training for fifth semester students; Campus Alliance Program ─ Aptitude Training for sixth semester students; Infosys Campus Connect Life Skills Training & Pre Placement Training for seventh semester students; and Infosys Campus Connect Foundation Program for fifth & seventh semester students.

At VVCE the number of reputed companies visiting the campus every year is steadily increasing and recruiters are very much satisfied with the talented pool of candidates selected by them. Some of them include Infosys Technologies, Hewlett Packard, Amazon, L&T Infotech, Mind Tree, Anora Semiconductors and many more.

Encouraging an All-Round Personality Development

Vidyuth, the cultural extravaganza at VVCE attracts students’ participation from all over the state. Moreover, technical fest Vivacious is also popular where students exhibit their technical prowess.

At VVCE students are taking initiative which is augmented by continuous encouragement provided by the faculty has resulted in numerous activities. Students are also contributing towards Blood Donation, AIDS Awareness, Tree Plantation, etc.

All the departments in VVCE are having their own associations, which are constantly encouraging inculcation of recent trends and technologies by organizing several seminars and lectures by well qualified and recognized personalities. They also conduct various inter-department competitions and giving equal chance to each and every member.

Many inter-college sports tournaments are held by the college sports council. Furthermore, VVCE students also take part in various Inter-Collegiate and Varsity Sports Meet.

Financial Endowments by VVCE

VVCE management offers Rs. 20 lac Scholarship to the needy and meritorious students every year with a cash prize of Rs. 25000/- for each scholarship. The management also provides free accommodation to 50 needy female students each year.  Moreover, students may borrow laptops from the library just like books for a specified period.

In addition, scholarships from Director of Technical Education, Bangalore is provided to the students belonging to the family whose income is not more than Rs.1,10,000/- per annum including the SC/ST and category-1 group students whose family income is not more than Rs. 50,000/- per annum.

VVCE provides financial support for engineering students who work part-time in the college through their Earn-Learn Apprenticeship Program. One can also earn hourly wages while engaging in research with college faculty through their Discovery Learning Apprenticeship Program. Additionally, the College of Engineering and Applied Science awards more than $3.9 million in scholarships annually to high-achieving students and to ease the financial burden on their families.
