The institute aims to advance human health through excellence in medical education, excelling patient-centered services, transformative research, scientifically technologically advanced medical education and exceptional clinical and preventive care, leading to a healthier community

It’s quite something to serve the underdog in today’s world. Not only to serve but to carry on that legacy and build a foundation for over two decades is likewise a huge achievement. The institution that we will talk about today did the same.

In the year 1996, twenty-three years ago, the foundation of Vinayaka Mission’s Medical College was laid on the soil of a remote district Karaikal. At the time of its inception, it was one of the first medical colleges in the rural area established not only as an educational institution but also as a sterling healthcare provider for the rural population of South India.

From the initial days, the institute has been consistent at upgrading at par with the time. From Under-Graduate to Post-Graduate, from health care to Social Responsibility, from imparting Medical, Nursing and Allied Health Science Knowledge to Employment, VMMC has stood tall strengthening the hands of the local administration, the state, and the country for development as a whole.

And today, after two decades, the institution continues to contribute towards the best medical education for the country all the while transforming the lives of students and catering healthcare to society.

VMMC’s Campus

Nestled in the picturesque view of Bay of Bengal, VMMC was set up as a tertiary care center in the remote area. The entire campus is spread across 70 acres of land and offers all amenities to both the students and the faculty.

The learning environment at VMMC comprises adequate museums, laboratories, air-conditioned library (refurbished with 11,900 books, 91 Indian and 36 foreign journals, e-library, SWAYAM-PRABHA and fully automatized), skill labs, Wi-Fi facilities, online library access, eLearning resources, 24*7 emergency care facilities accompanied with research facilities, gymnasiums at hostels and sports grounds.

A Versatile Management

To take up the mantle of twenty years foundation and keep its legacy continued is an arduous task. Such a task requires a will of extraordinary personalities.

Representing such will, the first brick of foundation was laid by Late Founder Chairman Dr.A.Shanmugasundaram, a noble Philanthropist and Educationist of extraordinary vision in the field of education who is also the founder of Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation – Deemed to be University.

VMMC has further support of eminent personalities in the form of Dr. A.S.Ganesan, Hon’ble Chancellor, Dato’s Sri Dr.S.SHARAVANAN, Pro-Chancellor, Vinayaka Missions Research Foundation (VMRF), Mr. N.V.
