$4 Billion allotted to Puerto Rico for Covid relief fund
Puerto Rico

Miguel Cardona, U.S. Education Secretary said that Puerto Rico will be receiving nearly $4 Billion in Federal education pandemic relief funds to restore the harm caused to the education sector by the pandemic.

The teachers and students in the region struggled for more than a year with the frequent power outages and poor internet access amid virtual learning. Around 24,000 students failed their classes this year, and some 13,000 students received an ‘F’ grade in all their subjects. This prompted the island’s Education Department to conduct summer courses that will help them with an additional boost of $210 Million to the previously approved funds.
