- Aiming to Expand the Road Safety Awareness Nationwide
- An Innovative fusion of digital and traditional learning
- Introducing e-gurukul for wider accessibility
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India is taking road safety to new heights with interactive carnivals at its manufacturing facilities, where practical training dovetails with digital learning to educate young minds all across the country.
Launched during National Road Safety Month, this initiative aims to raise awareness among school children, reinforcing HMSI’s commitment to reducing traffic-related incidents. The program, called ‘Kids Carnival,’ has been implemented at HMSI’s four manufacturing locations in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Haryana. So far, it has engaged over 1,100 students from government and primary schools, primarily targeting fifth and sixth graders.
“That meets with Honda’s global vision, the objectives set forth by the Indian government. This supports its zero traffic fatality target around 2050, and further harmonizes toward reducing road accident casualties by at least 50 percent by the end of the 2030,” said an official from Honda.
The interactive teaching method comprises an educational skit, video and entertaining games that make children remember the aspects of road safety. The method of conventional teaching along with modern digital methods will see to it that the students enjoy learning these essential rules of safety.
HMSI runs 10 Traffic Training Parks and 6 Safety Driving Education Centers in India. To date, it has collectively trained over 9 million people in centers that use on-road training by virtual riding simulators, hazard perception exercises, and practical skill development programs.
E-Gurukul-an e-learning website offering age-specific education on road safety for children within the age bracket of 5 to 18 years-on the ground, this, HMSI established. Being a six-language application in India plus Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and English, it increased the outreach level of road safety education but remained accessible to most geographical territories.
By integrating interactive training with physical workshops and digital learning, HMSI is taking very significant strides toward road safety awareness in India and brings about the development of safer roads in the future.
