The Aurora PG College, Ramanthapur is located in the central part of the city and was established in 1995, under the Aurora Group of Institutions, one of the largest educational groups in the state of Telangana. The institute is approved by AICTE, New Delhi and holds an affiliation to the Osmania University which is in turn accredited with an ‘A’ Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The institute is conveniently located in the heart of the city along the Hyderabad–Warangal national highway which allows it to be connected to the rest of the city as well. The institute is known to be one of the oldest singular MBA, MCA colleges in Telangana. A large number of students are drawn to this college from every corner of the country. It provides plenty of curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities that the students can participate in while also being supported by some well experienced faculty. The institute is also equipped with state of the art laboratories as well as a well-stocked library within the exceptionally built institute.
An Overview of Infrastructural Facilities
The university has a myriad of facilities provided to the students to make sure that their educational passage is completed within any qualms. One of the features is the expansive library which in the truest sense is a learning center with plenty of learning space to accommodate the students. It is functional from 8 am to 6 pm on all the working days and is subscribed to a large number of national and international journals. It is also home to a large collection of reference books belonging to the various disciplines and also a digital collection of books and CDs. The library also has a membership of DELNET or Developing Library Network which is a major digital library resource in South Asia. Through this, the students are able to access multiple e-books, multimedia databases, thesis/dissertations and e-journals. The computer labs are also highly enhanced with facilities to help the students learn and improve their skills in many programming languages such as C, C++, MS Office, Oracle, OS(Unix), and Java. The hub of all database related activities or the DBMS and applications laboratory is also provided with legal versions of Oracle 8i, data warehousing and data mining tools and other such significant software tools.
The campus is also entirely Wi-Fi enabled making it easier for the students to access the internet whenever required. The classrooms are fitted with ICT and have provisions for connectivity to webinars. This way, the students are able to participate in various digital programs which are organized by the state and central governments.
A Personality with Distinct Ideologies and Initiatives
Madhavi Madireddy was assigned the title of the Director of Aurora PG College in 2013 but her experience in the academic field has lasted 20 years. She also has a decade of experience in administrative practice. She has worked towards bringing in variations in the teaching and learning methods in the institution by introducing new age interactive, experiential and supplementary teaching methods. Madhavi was able to do this with the guidance and expertise of Sri Raja Babu the chairman and Dr. Ramesh Nimmatoori the Secretary of Aurora Group. Her initiatives have also brought various Memorandums of Understanding with multiple industries as well as collaborations between training, entrepreneurship and development organizations. It was awarded the Best Institution Award from the Government of Telangana for the enormous efforts to keep the campus clean under the Swachch Bharat program that was initiated by the government of India.
On the academic front, Madhavi has published multiple articles in various national and international journals. She is also the author of “Principal’s Handbook for MBA Colleges” which was granted a copyright by the Government of India in 2014. She has also been a guide to various students’ internships and project for over two decades. She has also been an active participant as the convener in many seminars, conferences and workshops while also leading the institute towards national accreditation.
An Oasis of Varied Courses and Industry Opportunities
There are five different courses that are offered on the post graduate level at the Aurora PG College. The duration of the MBA degree is two years during which the students are taught the basics of management and in depth knowledge in the specialization that the students have chosen. It helps them to get equipped with all the necessary knowledge required to dive into the management stream and hold managerial positions. The MCA course is mainly dedicated to the basic concepts and techniques of information technology and it builds a strong foundation in all the technical aspects of computers. It also trains the students hone their soft skills which can be helpful for them as IT professionals. The course allows the students to have a hands-on approach to the IT applications and computer softwares.
AU also offers an integrated MBA of 5 years which is a dual degree program which was initiated to equip the younger generation with degrees in management as well as computer applications. This also assists in giving them a chance at better job opportunities along with a prospect of studying overseas. Aurora also conducts a diverse range of outdoor activities in order to facilitate better academic growth.
- Industrial /Educational Tours: To ensure that the technical education imparted upon students is noted well by the students, some exposure into the reality of a workplace or the industry is a necessity. Aurora College thus makes sure to take the students on trips to companies of national or international repute. They are also able to interact with many personalities who have been a part of the industry for a long time. This also includes mini projects during the summer as well as making sure that the students are industry ready by the time they graduate.
- Internships: The students of the institute are provided internship opportunities in various renowned organizations like – Indian Marketing Research Bureau, Indian Statistical Institute, Survey of India, Berkadia Financial Services Limited, Karvy Finance, Bajaj Financial services limited, Kotak Mahindra and many more. Internshala is also a major source of students gaining the necessary internships at their own convenience.
An Array of Fun Events
The students have the opportunity to take part in multiple professional activities that are conducted by the institute since the first semester. They ensure that there is regular participation along with a high level of skill development and practical orientation. AU is known to encourage the students to take part in both national and international level workshops, student meets, paper presentations and various other co-curricular activities. The institute celebrates the various festivals such as Ganesh Chaturti with much fervor and practices the theme of eco Ganesha where the idol is made of soil. This portrays the environment friendly nature of the institute. It also organizes Samaroh which is a mini convocation where the students are awarded their degrees in their respective courses. It also honors the students who have performed exceptionally well in their respective academic year with gold medals and merit certificates.
Anubhuti is the annual celebration that takes place after the completion of an entire academic year. This event sees a variety of sports, cultural and literary competitions being conducted and everyone from parents, alumni and the others are invited to it. It is an occasion where the college portrays the various achievements that were attained in that particular year in the form of a yearly report.
