Inspiring Leadership

Hailing from the Midlands in the UK, Fiyaz Ahmed is the Director of Ajman Academy and leads the school towards curricular excellence. A dedicated educator, Fiyaz completed his MA in Education from University of Bath, UK; PGCE in Science from Loughborough University, UK; and BSc (Hons) in Applied Biology from Coventry University, UK.

Fiyaz has extensive and proven leadership experience in the education sector and is deeply committed to an ongoing school improvement process, with a strong focus on the quality of learning and teaching to build upon outcomes for students and staff. He has held various respectable positions such as Vice Principal, Head of School, Deputy Head, Head of Science, Head of Year and Teacher Advisor which have given him valuable insights into school improvement and school operations. Before joining Ajman Academy in 2018, Fiyaz gained four years of extensive experience at Amman Baccalaureate School. He is passionate about improving the quality of school education and establishing the institution as one of the premier schools in the UAE and in the region.

Teaching and Learning

With an emphasis on the teaching–learning procedure, the school provides excellent educational facilities and a comprehensive curriculum. It offers the IB Primary Years Programmme (PYP) that caters to the needs of young learners by creating an environment of fun, inquiry, and play-based learning in the kindergarten years. From Grade 1 to Grade 5, the curriculum and the pedagogy of the PYP focuses on international perspectives of learning and teaching while insisting that students fully explore their home culture and language. The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is designed for students aged 11 to 14. The curriculum creates opportunities that allow teachers to meet local and national curriculum requirements. It establishes rigorous learning objectives and consistent assessment criteria along with opportunities for meaningful interdisciplinary teaching and learning.

Ajman Academy provides students with a comprehensive curriculum for IGCSE and AS-A levels that is aligned with the IB World School philosophies. The curriculum promotes research and develops students into creative and reflective thinkers.

Innovation and Technology

Ajman Academy is at the forefront of innovation with meaningful integration of technology within the curriculum.  Students are empowered to think, design and create using various online tools that they access through their 1:1 iPad programme from Pre-KG to Grade 13. The school integrates cutting edge technology to create excellent innovative learning environments which support and enhance students’ 21st century skills. The school believes that technology is an innovative and highly effective component of student learning, home-school partnerships and school operations. Advanced classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards, spectron boards, vertables, classroom charging docks along with green-screens, iMac labs and A.I labs provide additional learning opportunities both within and outside the class room setting. The school has also partnered with Ajman Digital Government and Ajyal Talent to run an A.I Programme, the first of its kind in the UAE.  The programme, known as “Ajman Digital Champions” will benefit the students of Ajman Academy, assisting them in attaining excellence in the field of AI.

Focused on Development of the Students

The school offers language programmes in English and Arabic with the objective of celebrating and improving mother tongue as well as emphasising on developing English skills. Flexible learning spaces in the school include well-resourced libraries; music rooms, art rooms, and design technology rooms; science, food, and IT labs so providing a rich and diverse educational experience. A 25 metre indoor swimming pool and football pitches also provide a superb sporting opportunity and all students are encouraged to participate in the Physical Education Programme. Scholarship Programme

Ajman Academy offers a scholarship programme for students applying from Grade 4 to Grade 12 for the academic year 2019-20. The school aims to develop young talent while paving the way for an innovative future to empower students through learning.
