Initiated in 1968, the Al Ameen Arts, Science and Commerce College found its base in an old rented building on the grounds of the Government Medical College in the Garden city of Bangalore. In its founding years, it was home to just 33 students in the first year of its PUC course. A year post, full-fledged degree courses were started, which held affiliation with the Bangalore University Boards. It’s interesting to know that the name Al-Ameen stands for being trustworthy, which is one of the main qualities that the institute works towards withholding. The Al-Ameen Arts, Science and Commerce College is a part of the Al-Ameen Educational Society. The various schools of knowledge available here range from College of Pharmacy, Institute of Management, Institute of Information Science and a Pharmaceutical College. It contains 19 affiliated branches with over 200 educational institutes under its name and has courses ranging all the way from nursery to post-graduation.
An Overview of the University’s Infrastructural Amenities
Al-Ameen was recognized with an accreditation awards from the NAAC in 2001 and was re-accredited in 2009 and 2016 with “A” Grade. The institute has well-equipped classrooms and high quality seminar halls for the students to have an enriching learning experience. The library has plenty of books for students to research from along with a digital information centre for their convenience. The museum and laboratory provide a practical source of knowledge while enhancing the educational journey.
A Resourceful Leader
Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed Khan is the founder of the Al-Ameen Arts, Science and Commerce College. He is also responsible for pioneering the Al Ameen Movement in 1966. He is responsible for the immense success of the institute ever since its inception. Born in the city of Trichy in Tamil Nadu on 6th September 1935, he always found his way in leading educational movemens. He is a medical graduate from Madras University and initiated the Al-Amen Educational Society all over India and abroad as well. His movement, the Al-Ameen Movement is a part of a larger circle of humanitarian services to the society. He is an activist, a visionary, and a reformer whose list of awards dedicated to his incredible contribution to the field of education are plenty –

- Karnataka Rajyothsava Award -1990 for Education
- Honorary Doctorate by Tumkur University in field of Education during 2011.
Wide Range of Courses at the Institute
The institute provides plenty of courses that the students can take up for their academic journey such as:
- Bachelor of Commerce – As Per the Bangalore Central University syllabus.
- Bachelor of Arts – which comprises three combinations HES (History, Economics, Sociology), PyES (Psychology, Economics, Sociology) and JPE (Journalism, Political Science, Optional English).
- Bachelor of Science – This course has five combinations that the students can opt for such as PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics), PMCs (Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science), CBZ (Chemistry, Botany, Zoology), CMZ (Chemistry, Micro-Biology, Zoology) and PyBZ ( Psychology, Botany, Zoology).
The post graduate courses also contain interesting courses that tend to grab students’ attention. It comprises of M.Com, M.A-English, M.A-Economics, M.A-Urdu, and M.Sc-Psychology.
A List of the Multiple Achievements and Events Conducted by the Institute
The institute conducts multiple sports events as the students are excellent at university, state, and national level. The institute has also produced three former Olympians of the Indian Hockey Team. The Al Ameen Arts, Science and Commerce College has also secured the Bangalore University Athletic Championship for 33 years, which is a global record. They have also won the SAIL Cup in 2015. In 2018, the university football team won the Runners Award, which was conducted by the Reliance foundation in Mumbai.
On the academic front the UG departments of the institute also usually achieves results that are usually 85% in commerce, 95% in science and 75% in arts and PG department results have always being 95% to 100%.
Plethora of Career Opportunities and Industry Exposure
Al-Ameen is known to produce thousands of graduates and hundreds of post graduate students that are today occupying high positions in various professions. The annual results have constantly been encouraging enough and multiple ranks have been awarded to the students belonging to the PG courses. This gives students a chance at trying out their luck in the campus placements that the placement cell conducts called the Mega Al-Ameen Job Fair. The recent one conducted in April 2019, had more than 20 companies participate in the Job Mela and over 150 students from the various field found placements.
