Central Ohio School Districts Hire Additional School Counselors

To overcome the impact of Covid-19, Congress set aside around $13 billion from the Cares Act, for the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) fund. In some of the districts in Ohio, this funding is being used to hire the additional school counselors. The district already added eight school counselors and nine social workers.

This fund will allow schools to have one counselor in every building. This will lower the ratio of students to counselors, benefiting the schools. The decision has been taken considering the great deal of stress and anxiety created by the pandemic.
