Affected by a recent regulatory crackdown, China’s several billion dollars private tutoring sector might seek to separate its business segments and boost non-academic tutoring to repair the damage done by the regulations.

Shares of education firms like New Oriental Education and Technology Group, TAL Education Group, and Gaotu Techedu listed in Hong Kong and United States, fell sharply after China barred for-profit tutoring in core school subjects.

The new regulations rule that, all institutions offering tutoring on core school subjects will be listed as non-profit organisations.
