On 15th July 2022, i.e., today, Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Education Minister, released the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) at 11 Am. The NIRF has set specific criteria to allot the rankings across the country’s institutions. The requirements are based on the parameters on which the core committees agreed to give ranking to the various institutes and universities.

These criteria are divided into five board heads, i.e., Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practices, Graduation Outcomes, Outreach and Inclusivity, and Perception.

The calculation is done based on the weightage provided to each head. The maximum score value is 100; they ranked orderly based on institutions’ scores. But, this year, the NIRF India Rankings 2022 has been announced for eleven categories, i.e., Management, Engineering, Pharmacy, Medical, Dental, Law, Architecture, Research, Overall, University, and College.

In 2021’s NIRF ranking, IISc (Indian Institute of Science) topped the list with 82.67. Further followed by JNU (Jawaharlal Nehru University) achieved the second position with a 67.99 score, and BHU (Banaras Hindu University) placed third on the list with a 64.02 rank.
