A Commitment to Excellence

The campus of Florida School & College of Nursing is situated in the centre of the city of Bangalore, just 22kms from the city Railway Station. The establishment is operated and managed by Nursing and Medical Association of Bangalore Group of Institutions. This profound cross-cultured medical institute embarked on its journey in 2003. Since then, it has educated thousands of young students from all across India and metamorphosed them into professional nurses and doctors for the society. All the teachers and staff members are highly-trained and experienced. The College houses modernized equipment and laboratories in a simulation hospital environment for practical learning.

Florida School & College was founded by Mr. Majesh Mohan, Chairman of Bangalore Group of Institutions in support with Mr. A. Prabhakaran Reddy, President of Bangalore Group of Institutions. The first batch of this college started with an intake of 60 students in 2003. The affiliations of Karnataka State Nursing Council (KSNC), Karnataka State Diploma in Nursing Examination Board (KSDNEB) and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) were approved in the same year.

Strengthening the Healthcare Sector

With the growing demand of nurses and practitioners in India, students from all across India apply for admissions each year. Florida School & College of Nursing has nursing diploma and degree courses for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Since Nursing is an important profession related to the field of medicine, students are given exposure to the theoretical and practical aspects of behavioural science, physical, biological, medical professionals like the physician, medical service and pharmacists in the patient health care system.

The college started with only a diploma course in Nursing – GNM. With time, it added more nursing courses under its spectrum. The courses available includes:

  • GNM – General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) diploma course is a 3-year course that aims at preparing nursing professionals to take up the responsibility as a health team member in the health care delivery system.
  • B. Sc in Nursing – Bachelor of Science (B. Sc) Nursing is an undergraduate degree course of 4 years that can be done after successful completion of high secondary education. The course aims to prepare students to be competent professional nurses with scientific and innovative ideas in solving health problem and delivering quality health care.
  • PB. B. Sc in Nursing – Post Basic Bachelor in Science (P.B. B. Sc) Nursing is a two-year programme which can be done after successful completion of GNM. The course aims to prepare young professionals to assure responsibility as nurse specialists, consultants, educators, clinical practitioner and administrators in professional organizations, which fosters improvement of quality health care.
  • M. Sc in Nursing – Masters in Science (M. Sc) Nursing is a 2-years post-graduation programme done after the successful completion of B. Sc or P.B. B. Sc Nursing.

Over the years, it has witnessed students performing folk-dance forms and explicit home-town plays and dramas during periodic occasions like sports day, annual day, festival celebration etc.

One of the biggest college events is the Lamp-Lighting ceremony where the students pronounce the Florence Nightingale vows to work endlessly for the welfare of the society. These vows are imperative for all the nursing students to understand the true value of being a nurse and a doctor. Annual day and Sports day are celebrated to maintain the dynamic balance between work and play.
