G-20 Summit: A Pathway to Global Education Transformation

Punjab Chief Minister attends the opening of the G-20 Education Working Group.

The G-20 summit is a beneficial platform to gain valuable insights for participating countries to improve educational opportunities around the world, particularly in the state, to the benefit of its youth, declared Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann at the 2nd meeting of the G-20 Education Working Group today.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann praised the G-20 summit for its efforts to promote peace, comprehension, and global coordination. He strongly believes this will be of great benefit to the youth of the state, enhancing the quality of education and furthering economic growth. Additionally, the state government is devoted to allocating resources for health and education, with Rs 17,072 crore being allocated for school and college education for the forthcoming financial year. Furthermore, Rs 200 crore has been allocated for upgrading 117 schools into world-class ‘schools of eminence’, providing holistic development for the students from classes IX to XII with five pillars of support.

He has also declared the formation of the International Education Affairs Cell (IEAC) to give premier training to teachers, school principals, and educational administrators. Moreover, 66 Principals/Education officers have gone to the Principals Academy in Singapore to enhance their expertise, and to provide students and colleagues with similar knowledge and proficiency as those who have received international-level education. Furthermore, the Punjab Sikhya-te-Sehat Fund has been set up by the state government to upgrade the education and health sectors, with the participation of the NRI brothers, thus guaranteeing an elevated educational system.

He further expressed his pride in welcoming esteemed personalities from around the world to the summit and praised the Government of India for organizing the event on this sacred land of Gurus, saints, and seers. He also highlighted that this summit would be a great opportunity to sensitize governments and raise awareness of the issues and problems concerning the people.
