Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering and Technology (GRIET) was established in 1997 in the serene hilly premises of Bachupally conveniently connected to all the facilities and conveniences of Hyderabad, the beautiful city, known for pharma and niche research establishments and pearls. GRIET is a private unaided institution, affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) with recognition as an autonomous institution by UGC. It has also been conferred as an autonomous institute by University Grants Commission. The institution is permanently affiliated to JNTUH Hyderabad and has also received SIRO Accreditation by Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. GRIET has also received TEQIP-II grant from World Bank through MHRD, Government of India. About the Director of GRIET
The person who stands out amongst the contributors to the growth of GRIET is Prof. P S Raju, the Director of the institution. He became the first principal of the college in 1997 and later assumed the role of Director in 2004, and continues that responsibility till date. He emphasized the need of practical skills in engineering education and created excellent infrastructure for the laboratories. He structured the curriculum to have more engagement in the labs thus paving way for learning by doing. He is instrumental in designing and manufacturing lab equipment for Electrical Machines Lab, and setting up labs in many engineering colleges which came up in the first few years of this century, thus creating the culture of providing consultancy. He introduced many novel schemes right from inception like road shows for the projects, outreach programmes, book lending scheme of recommended reference books to every student every semester, annapurna padhkam of free meals, being stickler for rules, ensured discipline and inculcated a value system amongst the inmates.
